Each time, I reply to a post here or post here, my computer immediately gets very slow and I have to restart it a few minutes later.

Yes--I've done all the good thing run disk cleanup, scan disk, disk defrag, etc. But my problem continues. (Spybot shows I'm clean).

Is my computer about to go or what : 3 years old HP 8670C Windows 98se and 128k

Really my knowledge is very limited about this device. Thanks for your help.

Sounds like something else is running on your machine concurrently...like maybe your anti-virus...Is that on some sort of scheduler? The other thing it could be is JJ has hijacked the forum lately...that is slowing everything down.

Yes--I'll bet it is the anti virus from Mcafee! That's about when my problems started!
Thank You all

I may try that Windows Washer? You really think it's worth the dough. Seems everytime that I buy a program off the web, I have trouble, especially the Mcafee stuff. I can't even get rid of the giam M (Mcafee) that comes on when I first open the computer without getting rid of all the Mcafee products first. (Tell me they aren't clever!) Well--anyone that says "No-one circles the wagons like the Buffalo Bills" is A-Ok with me!

I've had Internet Explorer crash on me a few times right after posting. It was at work on Windows NT, so maybe a problem with that or the virus software running. Posts always went through though

Be very, very careful with any "cleanup" utility such as Win Washer....they are all a timebomb, and I'm yet to see one which is "userproof".

ATX, lol!!!!

I missed the game as I was watching a nailbiter of a CFL game 48-8 and sipping $8 pints. Nothing like sitting with 15000 fans in a 55000 seat stadium.

old, if you try window washer for the trial period, be sure to uncheck the cookies options for IE otherwise you'll find yourself re-entering usernames and forgotten passwords to all the sites you belong to.
