For The Record.
The four forums that were discontinued were averaging less that 8 active threads per day combined. Esentially an average of less than two active threads each every 24 hours so after several months of discussions the decision was made by Rx.com management (after plenty of poster feedback) to condense three of the threads (Entertainment, Health and Fitness and online Casinos) into The Offshore Forum. The fourth froum (Financial) was merged into The World Events and Politics Forum mainly because there is a lot of stock market discussion in that forum.
I don't see where moving these topics here to The Offshore Forum will cause The Rx.com to become a a tout only forum and bereft of any intellectual discussion of gambling value.
During the discussion regarding whether or not to eliminate some basically dead forums the subject of unhappy posters came up. The reality of the matter is while there is a clique of posters who are happy with each other and frequent The Offshore Forum and The Rubber Room that is all well and good, but we are not going to run the forum to make a single and small group of posters happy.
During the last several months The Rx.com has done it's best to improve the entire forum. We have upgraded our VBulletin version (not free), we added Private Messaging (by poster request) and just this week added a third server that is scheduled to come online by Monday to increase forum navigation. The moderators work around the clock to keep spammers, pornagraphers, online pharmacies, and just plain abusive posters off the site. Rx Tech support is still fighting off DDOS attacks but some posters will offer wagers as to what time of day the forum will slow down even though we are in the midst of a DDOS attack.
Yes we have a service play thread, one that has been here for years but scattered all over the various forums, just this year we spearated it from the regular sport forums by giving it it's own single thread a day forum instead of having the posts spread all over the sport forum in season.
The moderators have helped hundreds of players resolve all kinds of problems with various sportbooks (and not just our own sponsors). I have the emails to proove it.
We try to run as many free or inexpensive but lucrative contests as possible. We spend huge money every year on a free Bash in Las Vegas.
Despite all this posters like GreenDoberman get upset because the new software created "baloons" if your mouse ran over the top of an unopened thread, something that is very common all around the internet. Now because we reduce the number of forums because they are for all intents and purposes dormant the site's sole purpose is to shake money from it's posters.
The truth of the matter however is that it is the rank and file members who frequent the sport forums who support the site day in and day out and are responsible for the very substantial growth the site has enjoyed over the last four years.
Finally "There are many others that have asked me to be their voice on this. Rest assured, some may be your friend, neighbor, perhaps even coworker. We all want this site to thrive, both posters and employees, and hopefully along with that return to some semblance of community".
I am pretty sure I earn my salary, so any friends, neighbors, and coworkers should not need a spokesman, I am always available to listen.
Thank you, wilheim
