This has bothered me ever since joining the RX and maybe someone can answer this question. Why is it that when I log out, my username still shows that I am logged in? I have high speed cable. I have tried closing the Internet Explorer, shutting down my computer for a couple of hours, and still when I come back to the forums, I'm still shown as logged in even on another computer. The primary reason I think this is important is because other members may think that I am on-line and in the forums when, in fact, I'm not even around. Does anyone have a clue as to why this occurs? And if so, can it be corrected by the technicians?

For additional information, I did not check the box to remember my password, thus I chose to not be automatically recognized. I type in my username and password, each and every time. I'll log out now after completing this reply and you'll notice I'll be shown as still logged in. Buy the way, I routinely clear all temporary internet sites and delete cookies, so that can't be the problem.

Now I'm not shown logged in at all when I am. Is it a choice that I have to make regarding the profile settings. I don't mind members knowing I'm logged in if I am. Just want to be shown as logged out when I actually have logged out. If it's one or the other, the way you have changed my profile now, will suffice. So I can hide.

There is a period of time, roughly one hour, that keeps your name visible...
You can always go to your profile and change the preference to show me from hide me when you want to sign off and have it display immediately...
Otherwise, just hiding yourself, which is where I have it set for you now, will never reveal that you are on...
I know it's not perfect but that's the best I can do for ya...

techies should be able to change the amount of time someone appears as "on the boards"...differs by the forums. Obviously the longer that time frame is, the more activity the board appears to have. In fact, I remember this discussed in detail some time ago, about whether RX should keep people "active" for an hour, 2 hours whatever. I guess everyone else forgot that discussion.
