THE OREGON DUCKS - No doubt about it, the Ducks are money playing on the road
as a favorite. Over the past five seasons, Oregon is 20-7 against the spread in that
role.

2011: 4-2
2012: 5-1
2013: 4-2
2014: 6-2
2015: 1-0

Don't forget the Ducks as road favorites!

adding to Oregon as road favorites..............

.....when the Ducks are a road favorite of less than 17 points,
they are 11-1 against the spread their last 12 games.

UCLA - The Bruins announced a 15-year, $280 million deal with Under Armour. The
deal is the largest apparel deal in NCAA history. The agreement takes effect July 1,
2017.

MARK RICHT - The new Miami coach has pledged to donate $1 million of his own money
toward construction of a proposed indoor practice facility. Miami is one of the few Power
5 schools without an indoor practice facility. The new facility would house the entire foot-
ball operations center, including coaches offices and a weight room.

Sidenote: Florida State is 25-11 straight up all time against North Carolina State but the
Noles are just 2-9 against the spread the last 11 games in the series.

SOUTHERN MISS - From 2012-2014, Southern Mississippi finished with records of 0-12,
1-11 and 3-9 respectively before being one of the most improved teams in the country
last year at 9-5, and now surpassing double digit wins in Conference USA looks like a
realistic possibility this year with quarterback Nick Mullens back to run the offense. If
the Golden Eagles are to get to 10 wins, it will mark the second time they have done so
since 1088, when they were led by some sophomore named Brett Favre.

Sidenote: Southern Miss is 11-2 ATS last 13 contest in game three of the season.

WESTERN MICHIGAN - The Broncos could easily surpass their eight wins last season
in a year that was culminated by the first bowl win in the history of the Western Mich
program. The Broncos returns the lethal tandem of quarterback Zack Terrell and WR
Corey Davis, and the 2016 recruiting class was the best in the conference for a third
straight season under coach P.J. Fleck, a class that includes 13 three-star recruits and
should be among the best non-power 5 recruiting classes in football. Fleck seems to
have the program on the rise after winning only one game in his first season (2013).

Sidenote: Western Michigan's P.J. Fleck is the youngest coach in the FBS at 35 years
old.

SOUTH FLORIDA - The Bulls may no longer be a secret after finishing as one of the top
against the spread teams in the country last year at 10-3. South Florida overcame a slow
start on the field to finish at 8-4 during the regular season before losing to Western Kentucky
in the Miami Beach Bowl. Now they seem primed to challenge for an AAC title and another
bowl game. Moreover, the long term prospects are helped by not having Houston on the
schedule.

Sidenote: Head coach Willie Taggart is 26-7-1 against the spread in away games during
his career as head man.

DID YOU KNOW?

From 2006-13, Houston owned the top spot as the nation's offensive yards leader
(53,780 total yards. Last season, the Cougars ranked No. 13 with 6,778 yards. Look
for Houston's offense to improve this year.

*Baylor led the nation in total yards (8,011) during the 2015 season. I seriously doubt
they reach that number this season.

WASHINGTON - The Huskies are a team heading in the right direction since former Boise
State coach Chris Peterson took over as the head man two years ago, as they improved
to seven wins in Peterson's second season last year to go along with four losses of less
than ten points. That list includes narrow losses to Boise State, Oregon and California, so
they may now be primed to challenge for the league title. Washington may own the best
young backfield tandem in the conference in QB Jake Browning and RB Myles Gasking,
and the Huskies also return eight starters on defense, where they could have one of the
best secondaries in the countries.

Sidenote: Washington is 9-0 against the spread after an open date when playing a
conference team.

DUKE - Fresh off the best three year stretch (27-14) in Blue Devil history, and the first bowl
win since 1960...David Cutcliffe has ushered in a golden age of football in Durham, North
Carolina. And while there are challenges ahead for this season, such as the health of his QB
who ruptured his Achilles in February during conditioning drills, there are a few reasons to
think a well coached Cutcliffe team won't continue to shoot for winning seasons and bowl games.
Duke will be gunning for its fifth straight bowl game which is almost unheard of for this basket-
ball school. *Tennessee screwed up bigtime by not hiring Cutcliffe as there head coach.

Sidenote: Duke is 11-5 (68.7%) the past five seasons as a home favorite. 2011 (1-0), 2012 (3-0)
2013 (2-1), 2014 (4-2), 2015 (1-2).

UAB: Defensive coordinator Duwan Walker has resigned, and defensive line coach David Reeves has been promoted to the coordinator role, according to AL.com. Walker had coached with Bill Clark since 1999 and has stepped down to move into private business. Reeves has been at UAB since 2014 and has coached with Clark since 2013.

CONFERENCE USA - During the 2015 season, it was Western Kentucky and Louisiana Tech
who lit it up, and both teams should be okay again, but this year's C-USA title chase should
see a resurgence of Southern Miss along with Middle Tennessee and Marshall looking ready
to make the league wild and crazy each week. Watch out for the Southern Miss/Kentucky
opener.................

Sidenote: After suffering through an 0-12 record in 2012, Southern Miss has slowly improved
and posted a 9-5 record last year. Look for the Eagles to continue improvement this season.

FLORIDA is renaming its football field after Steve Spurrier, a former player and coach at
the school. The University's board of trustees approve the change Thursday, making it
Steve Spurrier-Florida Field at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

Spurrier won the Heisman as a quarterback and was 122-27-1 as Gator head coach.

CENTRAL FLORIDA played a ton of young players last season during a miserable winless season
and final year for the George O'Leary era (81-72). New coach Scott Frost's energy is infectious
and those same players will have a chance to get in a ton of reps and progress even faster with
Frost's up-tempo attack. I'm predicting they'll be better than last year's 0-12 record. How much
better is anyone's guess.

Sidenote: The four seasons before last year's winless season, UCF was a very respectable 38-18
straight up and 29-21 against the spread.

ground hog11, ran across an interesting stat about your West Virginia Mounties.

The Mountaineers are 21-8 against the spread as a conference dog. Taking it
a little further, they are 9-0 ATS from Game 10 out as a conference underdog.

Where do you find these stats? Thanks in advance.

TCU - Any Gary Patterson coached team shouldn't be taken for granted, and the Horn
Frogs could easily thrive this year minus the expectations that followed the Trevone
Boykin era. Although they will no doubt have fewer offensive weapons, a defense that
hurt TCU some last year will return mostly intact and with valuable experience under its
belt. Patterson loves the role of underdog, and it should surprise no one if the Frogs
are in contention at season's end. Watch out for the Frogs............

Are your notes in a format that could be e mailed? Pleas and Thank you.

There will be more CFB trends once the season starts than you can count. Go to the top of this page and click
NCAAF and trends...week 1 trends are already posted. Covers, SBR, etc. all have CFB trend sections. Once the
season starts...try DonBest.com, I always like to check them out.

Just a suggestion, use trends as only part of your capping otherwise you will be spinning your wheels. For what
it's worth!
