Some of you know me from the MLB forum and the tail end of last year in NHL, I like to read lines and try to stay on the side of the books and make contrarian plays.
Road teams +2.5 +170 O/U 21.5 - All four teams are dogged but the books expect a nice upset our task is to find it. This is for info only.
Lets start slow with half unit plays
Ducks +120 @ Sharks .5* - Big divisional matchup right out of the gate for these two teams who both start slow in their openers. The Sharks (3-9-4, .313) and Ducks (4-10-0, .286) own the league's two worst winning percentages in regular-season openers.
A closer look at this series shows the ducks have the edge H2H the past three seasons winning 6 out of 8 contestsin San Jose. The dog in this series went 5-3 last year and 8-5 the two years before that. Early returns shows the people like the sharks to win this pick em game, I'll fade that thinking given past results.
Cgy @ Van -1.5 +210 .5* - Lots has been said about the sad sack Canucks and the loss of key veterans like naslund and morrison - I say good ridence. If Vancouver is so bad why are they favoured here? The books aren't dumb they set a pretty nice line that is attracting even action, but I also see alot of posters grabbing the plus money on the Flames.
This is game one of a B2B series that concludes Saturday in Cgy. The Nucks will be honouring Luke Bourdon their young defenseman who was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident last spring. Vancouver also ended last season at home vs Calgary they were smoked 7-1 in Trevor Lindens last game. Curtis Samford started that game in net and clearly Vancouver could not wait to hit the golf course.
A closer look at this series shows, in the Luongo/AV era in Vancouver is 8-6 Vs Calgary when Luongo starts. During those 2 years the Flames have been dogs in Vancouver only 4 times and they went a very unprofitable 1-3 SU. The 3 games that Vancouver won were won by multiple goals hence the PL play.
So VCR wins and wins by multiple goals is the play!
