But he’s the closest think to a Jew that’s ever been in the WH.

That’s got to count for something, no?

BLS points to the aging of the baby boom generation as a key factor affecting the labor force participation rate:

"In 2000, baby boomers were aged 36 to 54 years and were in the group with the highest participation rates: the prime-aged group 25 to 54 years old. The participation rate for women in this group was 76.7 percent and for men was 91.6 percent, so that the overall participation rate of the group was 84.0 percent. The participation rate of the next-older age group, that 55 years and older, was 32.4 percent, so the difference between the two age groups was 52 percentage points.”

But, with the passage of every year after 2000, a segment of the baby-boomer population passes into the 55-years-and-older age group, thus moving from a group with a high participation rate in the labor force to an age category with a much lower participation rate, causing the overall participation rate to decrease

Damn you Obama for keeping people alive

So why do people say that it is part of his legacy that he just happens to be President when Baby Boomers reach their 60s and start leaving the work force?

You nit pick one factor and act like it’s the main one.

And by the way nice duck on your Obama keeping people alive comment.

Did you know unemployment rose slightly?

Perhaps you didn't realize that republicans only care about others lives when they are in the mothers womb. After that, it isn't a concern of theirs. That's why it doesn't matter to them that people are living longer.....and it couldn't possibly have anything to do with Obama or obamacare.....he is only here for them to blame....not to give credit. It's how they live and who they are as people.

Does the BoL calculate how many Americans are earning their keep via self employment and/or true business ownership?

That's the future in both the USA and in other countries for the coming century.

"Employment" will remain the mainstay for the biggest part of our population, but given the increasing limitations on financial independence for someone who lives their lives as an Employee, it will never be the measure for success used by those with real financial ambition

Of course we all know that "Washington" neither significantly increases nor decreases the percentage of Americans seeking to truly better themselves, whether as employees or as business owners.

But everyone running for office in Washington DC will tell their constituents they can do such magic and it's just as absurd as any one or more of them truly working to "rein in spending", likely the second biggest lie told by federal politicians of all stripes

Unemployment, as defined by Bureau of Labor, has not risen: http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNS14000000

Nonsense.

http://www.cnbc.com/id/102736075

The U.S. economy created 280,000 jobs in May, better than expected and likely confirming hopes that growth is back on track after a slow start to the year.

The headline unemployment rate increased slightly to 5.5 percent as the labor force participation rate ticked higher to 62.9 percent. A separate measure that counts those working part time for economic reasons and the unemployed who have not looked for work in the past month held steady at 10.8 percent.
