I've attended numerous sporting events in just the past 12 months involving well over 1 million spectators combined and very very few (including yours truly) place our hands over our hearts during the playing of the National Anthem.

Saluting the flag is increasingly viewed as an archaic, superstitious bit of claptrap.

Most of us can demonstrate honest loyalty and brotherhood with our fellow community members without feeling the need for such sillyness.
