Instead of going to a non emergency clinic and possibly flushing $200 down the toilet, I see what I can find out from the resident medical experts.
I slammed the lower part of my leg below the knee on a wooden dresser. I don't think I have ever hit my leg that hard when not playing a sport.
It swelled to the size of a golf ball within 5 minutes. There was a cut, but no blood dripping out of it.
The swelling has mostly gone away, but the cut looks kind of nasty. It doesn't look that deep, but it is wide. Maybe a quarter inch. The length is a little over an inch. Since there never was any blood flowing out of it, it makes me feel I don't need stiches. But the width of it concerns me.
If I do possibly need stitches, what is the longest I can wait without risking infection?
