Aloha Shrink, this battle of two running teams. Hell I like ND to smash the Orangemen to the ground and turn them into Orange juice. What a pathetic game they played last week against Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights ran all over this Orange Def. like a bad habit. They also managed to control the Syracuse run Off.

I'm feeling, if Rutgers is able to run like this on them, how in the hell do they think they are going to stop ND. This game right now to me seems to easy. Syracuse, probably no emotions left as they had a shot at a bowl , had they won last week. I think ND, if I am not mistaken still may have a shot at a bowl. If so, expect Willingham to get these guys ready to go on a rampage like they did last week against Stanford. Talk about an ass whoopin they dished out.

Notre Dame needs this game to become bowl elegible and will cover this small spread. Syracuse with RB Reyes, will struggle to run the ball against the Notre Dame defense.

Notre Dame will probably get there as Billy Walters had a HUGE play on them last week against Stanford. This is usually indicative of the fact that Billy has raised his ranking of this shit team. In a game between two pathetics, I will side with a team that Walters thinks is on the rise. GL

syracuse has packed it in and called it a season while ND knows with a win they go bowling. ND wins this one by a decent sized margin!

ND as well as Syracuse would both be bowl elligble, ONLY, with a win. This just means each would have the required 6 wins. ND was virtually shut out of bowl consideration when BC beat VT two weeks ago. Had to do with conference affiliations and 7 wins.
Don't get overly excited about the two ND wins. They were against two very bad offensive teams. They just played on the West coast, now must travel to the East coast to play Syracuse in a dome. That's a lot of travel time. I don't know if Syr has quit, but their off. should be better than L2 opponents, especially at home. I had been all over ND last 2 weeks as well. If you are not correct on Syr having quit, Syr wins. LW vs Rutgers, the game was played in high winds and maybe, for some odd reason, they were looking ahead to ND? I think line is skewed toward ND because of blow out win vs a bad Stanford team. ND is a huge public team. GL

I think that tomone is trying to say the same thing as this item on the Notre Dame Blue & Gold website:

Irish Can’t Find Route Into Bowl Equation
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tim Prister
BlueandGold.com Senior Editor

Tyrone Willingham did his homework. He didn’t do it as well as he had hoped.

Willingham indicated last week that he was still “doing his homework” in his search for a bowl game if the Irish claimed victories over Stanford and Syracuse to conclude the regular season with a 6-6 record.

The Irish took care of half of the equation with a 57-7 victory over Stanford. Meanwhile, Rutgers defeated Syracuse by 17, seemingly increasing Notre Dame’s chances of defeating the Orangemen this weekend.

But under the current bowl format, there are no takers for the Irish. All five Big East/Notre Dame-affiliated bowls have been filled and the set-up of the bowls does not allow the Irish to cross over to a post-season game associated with other conferences.

“Right now, it looks like there are no opportunities,” Willingham said.

Notre Dame will have to treat its game this Saturday in the Carrier Dome as its bowl game.

what are your thoughts shrink??

personally, i think these two teams could be called jekyl and hyde. syracuse had a couple of nice wins against toledo and bc and a tough loss to wvu then has games like the horrible loss to rutgers and the blow out against vt. notre dame is hot right now, winning three in a row but has also had two different three game losing streaks with some very bad beat downs. however, notre dame has lost to some quality opponents (bc was a road loss). syracuse isn't what i would call a quality opponent but at about the same level as bc, who beat nd. the biggest difference is how well nd is playing right now and true frosh qb brady quinn has a few more games under his belt. i look for nd to cover and win by at least 10.

The wind did not play a factor in Cuse rushing for 37 yards against RU - Cuse has lost 4 of the last 5 - the fans are planning to go wild on Coach P at the first sign of something negative - he is loathed by the fans who think this is their year to finally get him out - Cuse has quit again but regardless, ND is a much better team and a team heading in a different direction - ND is 5-6 but they at least lost to quality teams - Cuse's signature win this year is BC.

Cuse being eligible for a bowl is misleading - all BE teams are eligible with 6 wins - however, the 5th place BE team goes to the San Fran Bowl who alreadt took BC - there can be no bowl for Cuse - ND on the other hand - who knows - an outside bowl might go out of their way and take ND.

Well, I am largely outnumbered, but I firmly believe Syracuse will WAX ND. I think the west coast east coast week, and the dome favors Syracuse speed/ ND no speed.

I said ND was in the BE? Listen, I went to Cuse - I have seen nearly every game since 1990 - they have given up - there is no speed on this team - Reyes has not rushed for 100 yards since Toledo - within 10 minutes the fans are going to be booing Pasqualoni and Anderson - it's ND and tickets are still availaible in a 50k stadium - there is no support for this team/coach - anything can happen - but only a fool is taking Cuse today.

These two teams have identical records but they are not identical. Notre Dame has arrived at their 5-6 record by winning three straight games and doing it in impressive fashion. A once anemic and impotent Notre Dame offense has scored 27 or more in their last three and is averaging 39 points per game during that time span. Last week, they went on the road and mugged the Stanford Cardinal. It´s almost as if the Fighting Irish are fighting for a bowl spot. Tyrone Willingham has done a tremendous job with the little talent that he does have at Notre Dame and he has convinced them that a strong finish here will lead to good things next season. He has also convinced his seniors that they deserve to go out as winners. Notre Dame is playing too well right now to go out and lose this game to a struggling Syracuse team. Look for the offense to continue to click and for the improving defense to continue improving.
Syracuse has arrived at their 5-6 record by losing three games in a row. I understand the first two losses in the streak v. Miami and West Virginia but the loss by 17 points last week to Rutgers is a troubling sign. This Syracuse team may have just thrown in the towel. Whether they have or they haven´t, I don´t see them getting high enough emotionally for this game. They aren´t going anywhere and Notre Dame is not what they used to be. Sure, every team wants to win their last game of the season when it is at home but not every team can. Syracuse has turned it off and it will be hard for them to turn it back on against what looks to be a determined Notre Dame football team.

Notre Dame 27 Syracuse 17
