The Ville is a team nobody wants to play, they are incredibly talented, have a mediocre coach but when they put it together they look downright nasty. Notre Dame all about Harangody and he should get his tonight and abuse Samuels who is terrible defensively. The problem here is that Louisville has quick guards who can defend and ND has slow guards who can't penetrate and like shooting threes. On top of that ND is a terrible road team and it seems like Louisville is starting to find their stride. I really don't like this game that much but I am going to side with Louisville -6.5.

lol ... thinking the same thing. He has led 3 different teams to the Final Four. Seems like he turns programs around like it is nothing. I won't argue that his X and O's are good, but to call him mediocre is pushing it.

Pitino WAS at best a good coach, he no longer is a good coach, he is very average. When he was in Conf USA he looked great because teams in Conf USA were a joke at that time (that was prior to Calipari turning Memphis into what they are now). You will notice his '04-'05 team was destroyed by a mediocre Illini team that year. He has done nothing in the past 7 years besides getting the '04-'05 team to the Final Four. I would gladly take Ben Howland, Billy Donovan, Stew Morrill, Jim Calhoun, Calipari (although he did blow it last year), Oliver Purnell, Thad Matta, Bill Self, Billy Gillispie, Coach K and many others over Pitino.

Pitino is a glamour boy and the media loves him for that. When it comes to X's and O's he is average.

the 04-05 Illini team is the team with Dee Brown, Deron Williams, Luther Head and Roger Powell and you are calling them mediocre you don't know what your talking about. That was a very good team and has 3 Nba players on it. I respect your plays but your making some silly comments now

So, you think he forgot how to coach??? :think2:

As was pointed out above, he's lead three teams to the final four...average coaches don't do that...good coaches don't do that...GREAT coaches do that.

Pitino, as the old saying goes, has forgotten more basketball than you'll ever know!

You don't have to like him...but to call him average just shows either your bias or your ignorance. So, which is it?

If you are a great recruiter and have the ability to surround yourself with exceptional assiatants you only have to be a good coach to get to the final four

I only post here. Pitino wins a championship with Louisville I will call him great. I have seen the guy get out-coached time and time again in the last 10 years. I know the NBA is a completely diff game in that real basketball is played there and we all saw how well Rick the Great did in the NBA. Pitino is the Spurrier college hoops, a has been.

For the record I am not a Louisville fan nor do I care about any college team. I root for my money.

Public is all over ND. A lot of cappers here on ND, looks like a Louisville cover.

Disagree on Pitino being an average coach. The guy is a very good coach and to say otherwise is really not fair.

Notre Dame loves shooting 3's but Louisville often will fall in love with the 3 ball which has killed them this year because they just aren't a 3 point shooting team. Also I think as hard as Clark and Williams are to guard because of thier size, speed, and strength but I think ND is one of the teams that can actually match up fairly well.

A very above average coach but will never be what he was with us or where he would have been now if he would have stayed at Kentucky.
