Notre Dame OVER everything

Iowa is a truly abysmal defensive team. They are very young, and even accounting for their youth they still play defense very poorly. Their only senior is a great scorer who plays no defense. I'm on Notre Dame over for the half, Notre Dame over for the game, Notre Dame for the half, Notre Dame for the game, and the game total over, as Iowa can score some itself and defense isn't a strong suit for ND, either.

In short, I like Notre Dame in this one, and I don't think the fact the Fran McCaffery was an ND assistant under Digger (and met his wife there) is going to matter, although I'm sure he would love to have Iowa make a respectable showing in South Bend. As John Prine said, "if dreams were lightning and thunder were desire, this old house woulda burned down a long time ago." :)

There are late reports that Iowa freshman big Tyler Cook (their best offensive threat other than Peter Jok) is out with a finger injury. If so, that would make me lean more to the Notre Dame bets but away from the over for the game. Cook's a big, strong talented guy but he was not rebounding or defending the way you'd expect a guy with his build and athletic ability to play.

Whoa!!! Did someone say "John Prine," LOL. Many, many years ago, Charlie Daniels started an "annual" event called the Volunteer Jam. Initially was held at War Memorial Auditorium in 1974 and then moved on to Municipal Auditorium, both venues in Nashville. Among the many things I managed to get myself into at Vandy, I was on the concert committee which hooked me up with a tremendous variety of musicians/music groups (e.g. I exchange emails with Bono as U2 came to Vandy during their first American tour). I actually "endured," LOL party favors during the Jam in 1979 with Prine, Daniels and a few others.....I actually provided the favors, LOL. WOW, that jogged some memories.

I was surprised Iowa hung in that game as long as they did--especially the big run at the end of the first half to cut the led from 15 to 2. (I was dumb lucky with that because I thought I had played ND for the first half spread, too--but I didn't.) Fortunately things played out more as anticipated in the second.
