I'm not talking about the 2005 national champs but I do believe there aren't as many people in the region to bet up the Boise State Broncos as there are in Texas and the south to bet up the Texas Longhorns. Look, I'm not saying you are wrong to set a real or expected result line at -7 and as Fishhead pointed out....Boise could very well win the contest. I'm just saying the line at the book would be in the double digits or I would be most surprised. And part of the reason that the line would be in the double digits is due to Texas being the reigning nat'l champs. I can't help it that the betting public gets stupid about things (especially around bowl time)....lol!

If the stars align and get these two teams together in a bowl, you had better hope and I had better hope that I am correct in my guess because then we would use your line to determine that Boise State is the HUGE play.

Good luck.

The public has influence over a bowl game no doubt, but sharps keep it within a range. It probably won't matter since they probably won't play. The tricky part and why I may very well be wrong is the two teams schedules are so different that it is hard to compare lines of their games this year to see how linesmakers view the matchup.

Oh my goodnesss!!!! I am crying I am laughing so hard......LOL!! I was going to get on the FishBook's opening line of +9 but DAMN if I wasn't too late to grab that number and when I went to buy the Boise State side....the line had already dropped half a point.... HAHAHAHAHHAAAAAAAAAAA.....

My opening line after thinking about it more and cussing/discussing with JWunder: Texas -13.5

I will reconsider and go with Texas -10. Only reason is Bosie St's history against top teams is not good. See Georgia a couple of years ago.

This is a good point........has BOISE ST ever knocked off a TOP TEN team in the past 20 years?

If so, lets hear it.

I only wish they would give me 17.5 on Boise as I'm on that all day. I'd be on Boise even if they were +3 or even laying points against Texas.

:pointer:

Texas -9.5 is more realistic.

No...in fact other than Oregon State, they have not fared well against BCS conference schools, most of their losses the past 5 years have been to BCS schools.

I will say that Boise State is a better football team than Texas Tech and maybe even Nebraska...If Boise State is getting more than 8 points I would seriously consider them as a solid play against Texas in a high-scoring affair.

My dream Fiest Bowl match-up would be Boise State and Notre Dame...Boise State would win by at least at TD...maybe two.

Boise +10 is a fair number.

Consider several factors...

1. Depth (especially on defense)
Most BCS schools are 7 deep at DLine where they keep these guys fresh. This also trickles down to special teams, where Boise's players compared to the top schools players are likely not close, and if they are then they are playing their starters on special teams, thus tiring them out even more.

2. BCS teams can shut down or limit this rushing attack. Boise is not a good throwing team. They would need a turnover edge of +2 to beat OU, MU, TEXAS, AUB, UF, TEN, ETC.
