I have some papers I need notarized and sent back to the states
does anyone know if i can use a notary in san jose and send them stateside or do i have to go home and use a notary there.

You can use a notary here, then you take the papers to the yellow house (near INS downtown) and they add some papers, then you take them to the U.S. embassy in Pavas.

Same process for sending to any other country (just different embassy); as their is no apostille process.
