Say what you will about one of the largest and most popular services in sports betting, but one could usually count on Phil Steele and Northcoast to at least be honest when talking about his winning and losing days. Yes, He is definitely a marketer and he usually quotes his records in whatever context looks best (i.e "Our NFL selections have now had 63% winning weekends over the past two years"). However, his plays are all documented and he always prides himself on "telling you about our winning days as well as when we lose". That is admirable in a business with little in the way of integrity.

However, after listening to the most recent comp message from Northcoast I feel they have lost the integrity...as it is this service seems more mediocre each year in terms of giving out winners. In Sunday's recap, Phil stated the late phones went 3-4, and he was disappointed. 3-4?? I only saw 4 plays released on Saturday on every site I visited. No one else seemed to mention other plays. All I can think of was that he added his totals, which went 2-1 on Sat, to the record. This is subtle I know..should we give him credit for talking about a losing day? When one starts bending the truth, then what. In fact, on that same recap he mentioned his totals going 2-1 (of course).
3-4 sounds better than 1-3...but it is a false record...he went a documented 1-3 on Saturday.

I for one will never defend this service ever again or listen to anyone's talk of their honesty. They have actually been average at best anyhow, and now, they are no better than any scamdicapper when it comes to honesty.

I've caught him doctoring his record a number of times.

his problem is he has so many types of plays that 1 or 2 of them have to have a good record. For example. He has Monday night magic, mon night totals, marquee plays, late phones, late phones totals, underdog play, power sweep plays, power plays, espn play, and many more. If you have that many plays 1 of them is bound to have a good record.

His best plays aren't even his. His comp basketball plays. He gets a play from some other basketball service and tells it on his comp line. I follow these every day and they are 16-7 YTD. They recently won 9 in a row and then lost the last 3.

Solid post. I've gotta agree. Northcoast should have 2 sets of plays.

1. Late Phones
2. Opinions

He should never quote the record of his "opinions" only late phones.

I have followed Northcoast for years and I must say, this was the first time I have actually heard him falsify his record on a particular recap. I am very aware of his different clubs and marquee plays and late phones. However, he does keep these separated typically. This time he completely misstated what his record on that day was. While many may read this and find it nit-picky, I think it says a lot when one of the most "Honest" services in the industry, who tells us how honest he is on a regular bais, fabricates the truth.

Another thing he does is this. Say he is 10-10 on plays but according to his stars he's up 15 stars. Which is fine. Alot of people bet differant amounts on differant games. But that is what he'll tell you. "We are up 15 stars." But than if he's 14-6 but a couple of his big plays lost he will just say that he's 14-6. He won't mention that acording to his star's he's like, minus 10 stars.

I will say that his 5 star plays usually do win though. I believe he's 3-1 with those this year. And once they are released the line for that game can move up to 5 points.
