Possibly, look at what was done BEFORE the Depression and then look at what was done that made it LAST 10 years. Its better to take the hit now and let the markets work themselves out instead of doing something that wont solve the problem and extend a Depression.

i know brazil went on halting program down 10% today

i think US around 10% too

probably not crashing but ya never know....

either way we going lower over the long term regardless of what near term volatility we experience that much is almost certain IMO
