well siu is a mess...
lowery finally had to play without painter's recruits...and it is showing like an open sore....
they are down to 8 healthy players...
as they have probably.... lost mullins for the rest of the season...which is a big blow.... as he is a senior and the floor-leader of the team...
lowery was able to land dillard (illinois' mr. basketball)...and he is really playing well...developing nicely...
but he has very little besides him...
the other bigtime recruit...booker has played like shit...and is not developing at all....which is an eye opener....and another recruit transferred out of the program because of lowery...
they were picked 3rd in the valley...which.... as it turns out was way too generous for this group of saluki's.
Fish: No doubt what Jacobson has done in conference play is extraordinary! But to be honest with you if he would have had a lousy conference record, he would have been fired. UNI had previously been a mess since losing McDermott to ISU. So I dont think you can really say he is ready to go coach a major conference next year. Another season next year that is as successful in conference as this year and maybe we can talk about it. Lets not forget UNI played a horrible non conference schedule that included a 30 point blowout loss to Marquette, and losses to both in state Iowa and Iowa State. Not to mention they lost to either schedule or rbi number 247 Indiana State to open the missouri valley conference season.
I live 30 miles away from Cedar Falls so I attend these games regularly. UNI plays with heart. They are a team to definitely not treat lightly. Hopefully they can make the tournament and get to the 2nd round finally as they never could do this with McDermott. Anyway go Panthers.
