They have been very good for like 20 years, but occasionally a bad season hits like all handicappers have. Phil Steele had a nightmarish college season last year, people on here were fading away and winning because he just couldn't get anything right. I suspect he will come back with a big season, but who knows sometimes the game changes and if he doesn't adjust he may suffer again. Most preseason NFL he has done very well, but once again about one in five or so he is below 50%.
Phil had a good regular season for 3 or 4 years in a row until last year. Before that he was hitting around 56-60% a year. I know not the level of the loudmouth touts but I don't think he had too many customers complaining. Silly thing is most people have a comment like this "I can pick better than Phil Steele so he must be a moron". Forget about how well you pick games, remember many of his customers would be lucky to pick 45% if they went on their own. If you are sure you can do it better than him and for decades, then start up a service. Results speak in this industry and if you regularly do better than him you will have customers banging on your door for your service.
I love it when people spew things out without checking the facts. The guy, according to The Sports Monitor, hasn't had a losing season the last four seasons in the NFL, sporting a 116-85 57.7% record in that time frame. Colleges have been a different story. Last year was real bad and he wasn't listed in 1999, which means he had a losing season that year as well. For 2000 and 2001, he went 88-72 55.0%.

you are correct, Phil only considers 3 stars or higher "official" plays, that is unless, the opinion or a two star was a winner, in which case he will tout it on his free phones. Of course, if the opinion or 2 star loses, you will rarely hear about it as he then decides he can still be an "honest" handicapper and not mention it because it is not an "official" play.
