A few days ago, I rented a Buick LaCross for a week. Since my driveway has an incline to it, I usually set the parking brake before exiting the car. So when I parked it in my driveway the first time, my natural reaction was to push my left foot on the emergency brake pedal.
But my foot kept wandering around looking for a pedal that wasn't even there!hno:
WTF!!!! Well, after searching for a few minutes, I just gave up and went inside. After all, it was dark and not much could be seen in the dark.
Next morning when I headed out to work, I was determined to find this darm brake pedal if it was the last thing I would do. I looked under the dash....on the side of both seats....even on the ceiling of the car......but no brake. Since they usually don't have owners manual I would either have to go to a Buick dealer or figure it out for myself.
As I looked at the center console for something else, the was a small button with a capital "P" on the button. I touched the button and it moved down. A message popped up on the dash stating "you must have your foot on the brake to set parking brake." I put my foot on the brake and pushed the button down again. Voila!! A red light started glowing that flashed "PARK"!!! Mission accomplished.
Apparently it's an electronic device which opens and closes the rear brake calipers. Pretty cool once you get used to it!
