Murray was the best, the game was different back then ...I saw him play in person alot back in the day...by far the dominate Oriole , the guy had an aura maybe only Reggie Jackson could relate too back then...
I could tell you some Eddie stories, lmao one time about 5 years ago I called his brother up , he lives in Randallstown Md. I started a conversation with him ( Charles Murray) I talked to the man for a good 2 hours about Eddie`s career, lol, I got his number out of the phone book...Actually is was closer to 7 yrs ago, man time is flying...Back in the early 90`s I knew back then he`d make it to the magic 3000 and 500 club...Also realized back then he would be only the 3rd player, lol, I felt like I was going into the HOF, the only guy I could honestly call a hero... One of my favorite Eddie stories I was at the game...Orioles were playing Mil. late in the game Orioles trailed go ahead runs were on base Pete Ladd was pitching (THE WEEK BEFORE MURRAY TOUCHED LADD FOR A GAME WINNING GRAND SLAM,LOL) anyway first pitch he knocks Murray down, Murray kinda motioned out like "watch it LADD" Ladd no slouch kinda waved at Murray " come on " well benches cleared nothing happened though, play resumes NEXT PITCH MURRAY SENDS ONE OUTTA THE PARK, Ladd glared at him the whole way aroung the bases LMAO...Place went bonkers...That how it was back in the early 80`s it was Magic nightly at old Memorial Stadium...
