okay here is my problem with the whole thing and maybe I am wrong, not overly worried about it.

They had the line up at +175 for a solid half hour (1 am- 1:30 am) now they proceeded to move it to +165, which to me sort of gave them a chance to adjust and then I placed my bet. It was at +165 for at least another 1/2 hour than I went to bed.

Now maybe the move was done by some type of software that adjusts when they get heavy on one side, I don't know but they did somewhat notice the line was off by making a move on it, right?

I was basing that on the assumption that the line moved from plus 75 to plus 65 cents which had to mean they were aware of what number line was being dealt at. I will stand corrected if for some reason the play by Ice man is not honored. I am waiting for a call back from a Nine.com wagering manager. I will report back what I hear.

wil.

The line moving from 75 cents to 65 cents doesn't mean that they're cool with the line ... I've seen the line move 3 or 4 or 5 times at Pinnacle on a bad line, before they realize the mistake ... doesn't mean that the line was any less bad ... it just means that the line was adjusted (a) because the software was on auto-adjust, or (b) because the employee watching the line didn't immediately realize that the line was bad, and simply adjusted it because of the money coming in on that line.

Halifax, what is your thoughts on the book notifying the player of the cancelled wager before the game. I received nothing. No e-mail or alert on my home page at nine.com. Seems a little unprofessional to me. Is that common at other books? If I wasn't avid line shopper and record keeper than this would have gone unnoticed by me. Not very fair to the casual player that they are supposedly targeting.

I just spoke with the Sportsbook manager at Nine.com and they play will remain cancelled. I was forwarded an email sent to Ice man at 2:34AM EDT this morning.

I find it unfortunate this had to happen - I apoligise for any comments I made to the effect that I believed the bet would be honored. I did not know about the email at the time. I had a lengthy conversation with Rick the sportsbook manager and he explained his position. He informed me that the overnight linesmanager has been replaced as a result of the bad line and until a suitable repalacement is found all overnights at Nine.com will be limited to $200 per wager.

Ice man you are free to call Rick and he will explain to you exactly what he explained to me. Please check your comcast email addy if you have not already (for the Nine.com email). That is the email addy you have on file at Nine.com (different from Rx. email address)..

"new overnight lines manager" thats a good one - never worked at a book but if i sat and dealt lines all day or all shift i think id have a good handle on it

i guess the book doesnt have to worry they have a rule for any situation

Will, would you comment on this for me and notify Rick or whomever that i don't have a problem with there decision. I just think they should have e-mailed me ,which they didn't until you contacted them (14 hours after the bet was placed). Just seems a little weak on their part.

I love that line. If they cannot take responsibility, who can?

I have your e-mail Wil.

Nine has NEVER sent me an e-mail (at either of my 2 email addresses) regarding this matter.

Ice Man - I just spoke to Rick at Nine.com and he assures me that email was send this morning at 2:34AM EDT. in fact it was sent to the same email address you registered here at The Rx. with back in October of 2005. Maybe you can check again. I just sent a copy of the Nine.com notification email to both email addresses I have for you. Your Rx. registration email address (and Nine.com's) and the one you used to contact me with today.

nine has always treayed me fair but just seems funny some of the things this guy is saying on this matter.Just makes you wonder why so many people are so bitter at them.

No e-mail was sent to me, NONE and they have sent me some in past so I know they have my right address.

WIL, I can 100% guarantee you that the 2 addresses you guys have are different. I have NEVER signed up at a book with the e-mail I use here at the RX. In fact the ONLY reason I opened the e-mail that you guys have was to chat with rx posters. Never has nine used it (my iceman e-mail address). I would have no reason to lie about this. I hope he wouldn't either. I understand mistakes happen, it's better to admit them.

nice to see that Nine did in fact send the e-mail as they represented and the receipt was simply a mix-up. for a minute I was beginning to think they lost all credibility.

Sounds like a bad line to me, look how scalpable it was. I'd be afraid to bet it without e-mail confirmation from the book that the line was indeed good, before placing the bet.

Wil seems to have blown the call in an early post.

in post #25 you said that I have used the comcast e-mail address with them, different than one you guys have here. Not 1 of my 20+ books has the e-mail address I use here. I can assure you of that.

Thanks for your help (esp on a sunday). I really apprecciate it, it is nice to know that you guys are out there for us. Thanks again

the bet has everyright to be cancelled as it was obviously a bad line. i am not a fan of nine, but it is not right to take a shot by a player with an obvious bad line. however, email cancellations should be sent to everybody BEFORE the game starts; not after.

What I meant was the email address you contacted me this morning at wilhiem@therx.com with when I said Rx. email address. You registered back in October with your comcast email address (same as Nine's) and contacted me with your Yahoo address. I also use two email addresses most of the time. Sorry if I confused you.

We go over this every 6 months.

If you want to play a "questionable" line, call the book before playing it. That gives them a chance to review it and approve that the line will stand before accepting the wager. Otherwise, be prepared to have it cancelled.
