Even though you will lose 70% of your bets at Pinnacle.....you need an account there.

lander- believe me, I know the feeling. Been doing this for 20 years and I still make mistakes.....and stupid ones at that. Course, I am not the sharpest tack in the cupboard.

haha ... i'm thinking to my hungover self - "the public will eat the chalk up on this one, since it's an afternoon game with Wood tossing" ...

then I read the play of the day threads in the MLB forum ... haha ... all the good cappers pinged the Brew Crew early ... DOH

I have 3 years of gambling experience. I know moneylines, sides, totals, blackjack. And I love Las Vegas. I am still learning new gambling terms every day. Oh, and I recently learned Martingale or is it Martindale...?? I still consider myself a major recreational gambler. (or a square as some call it)..

Peace

Strutt, I have been looking at it over and over, and I think I am done scalping if you can believe that!

I have just gotten to the point where, if I am going to consistently lose more at pinnacle and other sharp books than I make in a year, why even bet the side? I mean, rollovers and siding your plays big one one side is fine, it just kind of seems pointless to bet numbers that you know are going to lose in the long run.

I mean, once you can recognize good and bad numbers scalping is just like insurance, that with my my small bankroll I don't think I need.
Have I gone nuts???

Vegasguy- Did not mean any disrespect....i just thought you were making a sarcastic comment. Scalping is a term used when you bet different sides of a moneyline bet. For example, if you can get more back on the underdog, say +180, then what you laid, say -178.........you can put yourself in a no lose situation. Laying -178 and taking back +180. You have given yourself a 2 cent scalp.

Cecil- I HEAR YOU LOUD AND CLEAR.

You will come out ahead better than me in the long run probably....just with a little more ups and downs. I am currently in a conservative mode due to many many personal agendas I have to face financially. Coupled with the fact I am allready ultra-conservative to a fault, that is not great. I feel like Steve Maricuci or Jim Mora currently.

Have I gone nuts???

Your internal question:

Will the "small bankroll" withstand the occasional cold streak or a "temporary" impaired "recognition" of good/bad numbers?

Thanks buddy. Then the only way to make money in this situation is if the dog wins...

no vegas ...
it depends how you align you bets ...

say you find a rare +105/+105 scalp .. if you bet $100 on each side you'll win $5 no matter who wins ..

In your example yes. But in a (-178/+180) then you break even in the (-178) ??? Assuming you lay (-178) to win $100 and $100 to win $180..

In that case yes. You would net $2 if the dog won, and break even if the chalk came in
100 to win 180
178 to win 100

I was merely stating that you could lay 100 to win 180 on the Cubs and 179.28 to win 100.72 on the Brew Crew ... thus netting a whooping $.72 either way.

So lander

Would you recommend scalping..???? Is there a major advantage..? Unless you increase the chalk bet???

The advantage is you can't lose, the disadvantage is you'll earn about .06/hour looking for them ...

... if you stumble on a nice scalp/middle you'd be foolish to not take it, but you'd make more money working the drive-thru at McDonalds if you "dedicate" yourself to it.

Pancho,
What's a lead? Buying early on the side that you think is the value? Then buying back?

Maybe I should fade myself ...
First time I tried middling I polish middle myself on the 9 in MLB ... final score 7-2
icon_mad.gif

Now I try the early buying route ...
