projected attendance for mlb is down 7% right now...
i think it will end up being alot worse...
&
will become a big story as the season progresses...
i cannot recall the last time you could buy single game tix for cubs & cards...
beautiful sunday in new york...yankee stadium with tons of empty seats yesyerday...especially the club seats behind home plate...
to watch a ballgame and see the announcers turn into desperate ticket salesmen is sad...
the economy has finally caught up with the grand game.

i think this could be the year the pirates make a run at a winning season. i think they have some of the best starting pitching in the league. Maholm has come into his own, Duke is once again showing the promise that made him their prized prospect, and ian snell looks to be more like his ;07 form, then '08. now if they can get gonzo back to how he was throwing last year you have yourself a solid rotation. will be a little light with the bats again, but they have enough arms in the front and back (capps) of their staff to contend for a wildcard spot
it's embarrassing looking at those empty padded seats at yankee stadium. it's ridiculous that it has gotten to a point where a father has to think twice about bringing his son to a game b/c of the expenses. wasn't that what the game was built upon? disgrace that major league baseball has let it get this out of hand
Yep, maybe the arrogant moronic owners will stop paying $7million a year to pitchers who go 9-11 with a 5.12 ERA.
I dont mind the Pujols of the worlds making all that money but the problem lies with all the marginal to below average talent in the league making $3- $10 million a year.
The people that continue to buy tickets are idiots. 18 straight losing seasons and mgmt shows zero commitment to trying to build a contender. The baseball fans in Pittsburgh like fireworks & bobbleheads.....truly a pathetic bunch. The loudest that stadium gets is when they race the pierogies in the 7th inning! When a walkout was staged to protest 16 losing seasons 2 years ago, the idiot fans booed the people who walked out in protest of all the losing!!!
The Pirates market all this horseshit too. They dont care about winning when they are making money. They got an amusement park going on down there with all of the sideshows. The advertising is all geared to families and kids and the owners continue to rake in the profit each year (that and what the Yankees sadly have to give them) of which none goes back into payroll.
