NHL to SCRAP ENTIRE SEASON tommorrow

Just heard it on FOX news...it will be the first professional League to do that

WE had a thread discussing this a couple weeks ago, but i dont think Hockey can survive this strike, losing an entire season...

I know they have a solid, dedicated fan base, but its not a huge one...

Baseball took forever to recover from its strikes, and the nba was down in attendance for along time..

Hockey doesnt have that comfort zone, they lose half their fans for a couple years, the owners might have to pull out....

Will be interesting to see how this plays out, but hockey was the 4th sport already, and this wont help...

the players should have gave into the owners. owners are rich becuase they understand money. the players are just a bunch of tools with exceptional talent to play hockey.

you are also right bucs. the nba and the mlb had incredibly huge fan bases they could take a hit and kind of shrug it off in due time.

hockey has its core following and thats it. you really cant toy with it. not everyone rebounds into full bloom fan craze after these lockout deals.

I think either:

1. A new league will be formed.

2. The NHL will undergo some contraction.

Sadly it's hurt lots of small businesses, many of which have lost over 50% of revenue.

Owners have wanted to break the union for years. More blame goes to the owners since it was easier to expand (and get expansion fees) rather than face the salary issues in the '80's and 90's. The NHL has been mismanaged for years. You know when teams like Boston, Montreal, and Chicago have a hard time selling out, you're in trouble.

Hockey ????

What is hockey??? I remember a few years back they had somthing that sounded like hockey. I think the ice meltd or somthing and I never heard anything mor about it.


NBA is next!!!!!! The NBA will not be able to Shrug off another strike. NBA is hurting bad.

MLB won't make it if they strike again either.

I don't care has a 67% lead. I guess in a few years after football season we will be betting on if it going to rain on a certain day. Because there won't be anyother sport to watch after football is over. Ok maybe college Hoops will still be around.
