Ottawa senators +120

One of the most solid handicapping angles in sport may never have a chance to be utilized. With half the NHL playoff openers already on the board zero have gone to the visiting team.

I’m talking of course about backing the home team in game two on the comeback after a first game upset by the road dog. But it’s a new day and I still know from past performance that there are always some upsets in that opener and the only question is who will go down as the first.

Truth be told it could be any or all four tonight. But I’ll take the conservative approach and stick with a game I had picked from the start. In a battle of two very equal squads I like the Senators to beat their rivals in the battle of Ontario.

In the last seven meetings between these two the visiting team has won five. I guess the close proximity of the two cities and the evenly divided split of it’s populace has something to say about that. (Although something tells me that the Leafs are still king of the province.)

The Leafs have always had the Sens number in the post season and I don’t see that ending here. I like Toronto in the series but I see the first game going to the visitor. If for no other reason law of average demands it!

NHL single unit plays………96-71-8.…..+ 24.79
Unit and a half plays………..14-6-1.…… + 10.62

NHL total to Date…………...110-77-9.……+ 35.41

So if the last 10 spins of the roulette wheel came black the next one is obviously red? Of course not! Now that I am off my gambling soapbox though let's talk NHL...

Ottawa is younger and faster has better goals for and goals against on the season. They are by no means playoff rookies though. I think they can get it done tonight and in the series as well. I also liked Toronto a lot this year - shame these two had to meet first round as I would have preferred to see this in the conference finals. pick - ottawa.

Hallr, spins on a roulette wheel are completely independent of each other, which is what some people like yourself, who erroneously make this comparison, often miss. Unlike in sporting events, the fact that a roulette wheel landed on red last time has nothing to do with the color it will land on next time...nothing. In sports, if you know for a fact (which of course we don't), that the Yankees are going to win 100 games, then previous records should be indicative of future results, either positively, or negatively.

Johnny, your logic is so flawed it's not even funny. I was saying that "the law of average" doesn't mean that there will be any road team winners today. By yours and Vegas FLAWED LOGIC, because all home teams won yesterday then some road teams should win today? Who are you kidding? Do you have me believe that the result of the Vancouver Calgary game will effect tonight's Toronto Ottawa game....PLEEEEEEASEEE. lol

yeah hallr I was playing as well, as evidenced by the exclamation point. I will however limit whatever sarcastic statements I make to a minimum and use happy faces or lol's where appropriate.

Vegas....Nice hit with Ottawa! Thanks. I got a lucky win with PHI-NJ Over 4.5(+110) also.
So do we have an automatic play on Toronto in game 2?

Cheers
