Differing opinions I'm reading. Stalled at 8,000? Corporate and casino factor not being factored in? Major Canadian city [ie. Quebec] would have reached 10,000 much quicker? NHL still worried about lifestyle impact on young players?

What's the feeling on the ground out there boys? Gonna happen or not?

Hope it happens, the west needs another team, and I'd like to watch a game in Vegas.

Not really feeling the buzz. Since the arena is being built along the strip I think turned off most locals already.

Casinos going bust in AC, Caesars Entertainment filing for bankruptcy, gambling revenue dropping year by year, MGM would have never stuck out their neck and broke ground if it wasn’t already a done deal. Does anyone believe that they would invest $350 mil without a tenant? NHL has always had a woody for Vegas. NHL awards show here every year. Gretzky’s fantasy camp, (which is going on right now), is a yearly event at the Bellagio. Exhibition games at the MGM Grand Garden. Has Bettman ever attended a ticket drive for a fledgling franchise before like he did here? NHL gets $500 mil for a franchise fee which is not shared with NHLPA. That’s one billion with the addition of two new teams, (including Quebec), into the pockets of owners and the league. Why wouldn’t they expend, balance out the conferences, and replenish their coffers all in one action?

On the other hand, why wouldn’t there be a team here in two years? Because you only have a bit over 8,000 deposits for season tickets 3 months before the board of governors vote on this thing in June? Come on. Who says they don’t get another 1500 deposits in the next 90 days? Even if they don’t, who says they need 10,000 to get this deal done anyway? That was only a figure Foley brought up by saying, he’d be shocked if Vegas didn’t get a franchise after getting 10,000 sign ups.

Stick a fork in it. It’s a done deal.

Put a team in Hamilton, or a second team in Toronto.

15,000 season tickets sold in a week.

8.000? LOL...and yeah a major cdn city would have NO PROBLEM blowing by 8,000 commitments

as an example, winnipeg in 2010 sold out its upcoming season in about 5 minutes , :)

the commissioner is out for profit, yet again. He's putting a NHL franchise in a state that could care less. Hell, he has THREE teams in the state of California-- all teams are winning at the moment, if either starts to lose? the building(s) would be half empty, lol....TWO teams in the state of Florida-- are there enough transplanted Canadians in the sunshine state? damn, more often enough Panthers games have more empty seats than occupied

give Las Vegas a team........then move it in 5 yrs........:)...............fuck it , dilute the product.....

Ducks building is half empty and they're winning. King and Sharks have loyal fan bases though, Kings went through years of sucking and the place was always packed.

I also remember when the Jets and Nordiques were the laughing stock of the league, and they had to move the teams.

I think an NHL team in Vegas would do fine especially as the only major sport in town. Vegas is a totally different culture than Arizona. And I agree with Vic, it's a done deal.

LMAO. Tickets sold and place 'packed' are not the same. Hardly 'packed' when they sucked, good grief.

McNall in an effort to save a floundering LA franchise and get people in the seats goes and trades for The Great One . I remember playoff games then and the Kings couldnt `pack`the place

yet this chap wants to tell us even during their struggling years the place was ``àlways packed``...:)

Kings are one of the oldest franchises in the league, have been in LA longer than the Lakers, and have never struggled to fill seats since before the Greztky era. I went to games the year they took second to last in the league and there weren't any empty seats. They've never had to move unlike 2 Canadian franchises that struggled during the 90's.

Are you an idiot, Great Western Forum was small and in the ghetto, since moving to staples in 1999 their attendance has been above the league average around the 16-18k mark which is great for team coming in 28th place. Winnipeg doesn't even sniff L.A. so put away the bitter Canadian underwear.

um, no bitterness at all. Why would I be bitter?

why are you comparing Winnipeg and LA?

WTF?

you said LA 'even when they struggled they filled the seats'. That's false.

McNall had balls and kudos to him, helped turn the franchise around

They had many awful years during the 2000's and still filled seats, just saying it's been a long time since the struggling days of the Great Western Forum, and LA is not comparable to markets like Arizona or the Florida teams.
