Islanders/Canucks under 5.5 (-142), .5*
Islanders/Canucks under 4.5 (+180), .5*

Back from my hiatus. Needed to take a week off as I was scuffling. I am splitting up my bet in the Islanders game. I don’t love having to lay -142 on a total. So I’m going to split up my unit between 5.5 and 4.5. If it lands 5, we break even. If it lands 4 or less, we make a bigger profit then if we had put one unit on 5.5. If the total lands 6 or higher, we would have lost either way and we save a little money on the vig. GL

Blackhawks/Capitals over 6.5 (-105), 1*
Wild/Islanders over 5.5 (-110), 1*
Big game for Detroit if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive. I’ll take a shot in them as a big home dog in a borderline must win game. Chicago’s defense is not strong, I think 5+ goals from Washington is a very real possibility. The Islanders have played themselves right out of the playoffs as they are in the midst of a six game losing streak. They have given up 4+ goals in all of those games. Sorokin has been lousy this season. Minnesota has given up 5 goals in three of their last five games, all losses. I’m kind of surprised people are betting the Islanders early on. I’m staying away from betting a side, happy to bet the over. GL

Few leans for tomorrow. Hurricanes -1.5 or to win in regulation against the Bruins. Boston has been artfully tanking since the deadline. All of a sudden they have the fourth fewest points in the league and they don’t want to do anything to screw up their chances at a top five pick. They need help at center most of all, followed closely by wing. They are going to take the best forward available, preferably a center. Winning against Carolina tomorrow isn’t really what’s best for the team and the lineups they are using certainly helps. I lean Ottawa and the Ducks in the afternoon. I will post any bets I make during the day tomorrow.

There are some other leans I have, but I have to pass. Stars are interesting, but Minnesota hasn’t locked up a playoff spot yet. If the Wild lose in regulation, they would be four points up on Calgary, but the Flames would have two games in hand. I would like to buy low on Florida off a four game losing streak. However, Detroit is still hanging around. If the Red Wings and Blue Jackets win today and Montreal loses, both teams would only be four points back with a game in hand. I definitely lean Dallas and Florida, but I have to pass based on what the games mean to their opponents. Not to mention, both Dallas and Florida played yesterday while their opponents are fresh.
What a loss on that over last night. 5-1 after two periods, zero goals in the third. Good luck today.
