I don’t see how the 3 on 3 will have any effect on the point totals. 3 point games should occur with the same frequency, (23% to 25% since 2005).

William Hill’s points add up to 2753. There were 2766 totaled in the NHL last year.

I see three I like.
Arizona under 64.5
Colorado over 87.5
Islanders over 97.5

Also think Vancouver is too low at 83.5. Canucks are definitely on the way down but not 17.5 worse than last year.

Yeah those were the live lines from my app when I posted. You don't think teams that have that extra skill on 3 on 3 wont get extra points versus a the crap shoot, shoot out?

Oh I see what you’re saying. Have to believe it helps Pittsburgh. Kings also were terrible in the SO last year, (2-8). But was that an anomaly?

Hard to say who’ll do good with 3 on 3 or not. I’m not convinced having three skilled skaters/snippers is the difference rather than a good defensive scheme or net minder.

:think2:

Wait till the Hawks and Canucks get comfy with this setup.

Oilers
Pens
Blues will also have a field day against some teams.

I see a possible disastrous season from the Hurricanes FTR.

Avs under 87.5: Any success Colorado had last year came from Patrick Roy pulling the goalie with four minutes left and having it work out for him. They had seven goals with their goalie pulled and 12 OT/SO wins aka 19 standings points they were pretty lucky to have. Varlamov is a beast but can only do so much for a team that's getting out-Corsi'd almost 60%.

Carolina over 71.5: Love this over. If Eddie Lack can help bring the Canes' terrible .902 save percentage from last year back up to league average that's six standings points right there. Replace Alex "I sleepwalked through 2014-15" Semin with Kris Versteeg and you got yourself an over goin'.

Columbus under 95.5: I know they had so many injuries last year that they had to move a bunch of cardboard cutouts around on the ice with strings like Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone but I can't see that alone accounting for a 7-point jump. Also, the bottom three teams from last year are projected to improve by a combined 55 points which takes one win on the season away from every other team which I think earns any under play a second look.

Youre focus here is real in that not only will those 3 be better IMO but the West will not have as much of an upper hand over the East as its had the last couple years. I'm sure the West is still better overall, but the gap has been cut. Not sure I wholeheartedly agree on you Carolina assessment though. Though Kevin Allen of the USA Today has the same feelings about this team. I'm not sold on Lack like some others i've read and heard. This team needs fantastic seasons out of the Staals, Skinner and rookie in Hanafin who has yet to play a game in the NHL and a backup goaltender needing to win a job in a new setting. I personally think that's asking a lot from this team. Not to mention they have a coach and a GM who have yet to win in any shape or form at the NHL level. This team needs to buy in the fact it takes a TEAM concept to have success and TEam play and Kris Versteeg in the same sentence is not something the 2 of them have in common. Not sold on this one Curbes.
