Edmonton Oilers PK +130
Edmonton/Los Angeles Over 5 -110
Not an easy task for the Oilers to play their third game in four nights and the second in consecutive dates but then nothing they’ve done in the last month has been easy.
Since February the 18th they have scored at least one point in 15 of their 16 games. During a 11 game stretch from 2/21-3/12 they went to overtime nine times. They are currently on a four game winning streak and have not lost in regulation since February the 25th. They have struggled and fought throughout and given every inch of effort they have. At this point of the season and from what I’ve been seeing lately that one fact is enough for me to back this team. At least I know they are going to give it their all.
The Kings are going the other direction. A month ago (2/18/04), the Kings had a comfortable lead on the Oilers by nine points. Tonight they trail them by one. Edmonton comes into this game one point out of the playoffs behind the Blues.
Los Angeles has lost four of their last five and it’s been a month since they beat a team with a winning record. There goaltending has been inconsistent and when they win lately it will always be because Huet has only given up one or two goals. Otherwise allowing four, five, or six is the norm.
I see this game to follow like last night’s Oiler/Shark contest and similar to the offensive style of both games played between these two this year. Much scoring, maybe to overtime, and who wants it most gets it. And from recent history that looks to be all Edmonton.
NHL single unit plays………92-58-7.…..+ 34.25
Unit and a half plays………..13-5-1.…… + 10.845
NHL total to Date…………...105-63-8.……+ 45.045
