What percentage of Book revenue/take is generated from the NHL?

Personally I wouldn't think so as hockey isn't a sport bet on much by the recreational gambler while sharps target it & make their share of profits on it. I know I target hockey alot & it has treated me very well the last few seasons. I'm upset that their is a lockout for sure.

Why don't the owners get in some scrubs or something. Screw those overpaid bastards. They think it's ok for them to make whatever they want even if their teams are losing money. It's a lockout I guess but I wish like hell it was a strike. I hope the owners don't budge and the players (or union I guess) comes crawling back on thier hands and knees. I really feel bad for the scouts and all of the thousands of people behind the scenes that are gonna suffer big time because of this ****. The NHL is in a steady decline for revenue and the players don't want to help them out.

I probably don't even know what the hell I'm talking about

i agree with EGD

my guess is the books will actually be making more of a profit NOT booking hockey then by booking it.

very few people bet it - and those who do usually are sharp enough to do rather well at it.

my guess is books have hockey because they know if they don't book it - some other book will - and people will then do a lot of their business there.

I like to bet it, hate to watch it ( same with most sports). I doubt "scrub" players would draw fans, not enough to fill arenas. It would be kinda bogus, IMO. I'd never watch the waning minutes of a hockey game ( if even televised), without a bet on it.

Would yours trully be the one in Fla?

If not, add another one to the list, as this is really bumming me out for more than one reasons.

PS--- FWIW, the books I worked at in Vegas had a very strong hold percentage on hockey, the only problem was the volume was considerably lower than the other three major sports.

Was practically solely my responsibility at a couple casinos to make and move the hockey lines as needed..........with a 20-30 cent line. Very hard to lose with a 30 cent line, but would shade 1 or 2 leans 20-35 cents almost on a daily basis and get wiseguy action on the other side, who the majority of the time were just scalping.

Its a sad thing for this area to not have a post Cup season especially with the Bucs at 0-4. Tampa hockey may eventually go the way of Montreal baseball as a result.

As for me, I was really looking forward to playing pucks this year after spending a good amount of time with the most astute hockey gambler in North Tampa this summer. I was ready to put the tutorial to good use. Sad thing indeed.
