Now you may think I’m still reeling from Thursday’s massacre with today’s selection and that this is a desperate grasp by a desperate man but let me assure you all that I have sound reasoning behind it, my mind is thinking quite clearly, and I would easily pass any drug test.

Pittsburgh Penguins PK +255

I’m not ready to quit on our flightless, feathered, friends yet. They play a home and home against a Buffalo team that is trying to keep their dim playoff light alive. The Sabres have played well lately and with confidence. With six games remaining they trail the eighth place Islanders by eight points. Every game has sudden death meaning to Buffalo. So why take the other side?

Past history….Last time Buffalo beat Pittsburgh at home was two and a half years ago. Since that win on 10/14/01 the Penguins have posted a 7-0-2 record against Buffalo. Going back to 1999 the Penguins have compiled a 17-5-3 overall record versus the Sabres. And they have absolutely dominated them at Buffalo, 10-2-1. For what ever reason the Penguins own the Sabres.

Recent history…The Penguins were an embarrassing team one short month ago. Losers and owners of a record setting eighteen straight games they somehow switched the transmission into drive from reverse. In the last thirteen games they have lost only three. And this record was not created against push overs. They’ve beaten some of the best teams in the league at home and on the road.

Pressure…I know this game is everything for the Sabres but sometimes that do or die motivation accomplishes only tight play, tight collars, and many white knuckles. Buffalo has felt this urgency for the last month and all it got them was a 6-9 record. When the going gets tough sometimes the tough get going.

Value…In lieu of all the above why would you make the Sabres a -285 favorite? Sorry but in my elementary attempt to apply some measure of proportionate mathematical weight of the line to the probability of Pittsburgh winning this game I would have to say the scales are tipped heavily towards the side of our flightless, feathered, friends……..in other words Penguins win! Penguins Win!

NHL single unit plays………96-62-7.…..+ 34.14
Unit and a half plays………..14-6-1.…… + 10.62

NHL total to Date…………...110-68-8.……+ 44.76

Vic,

I believe that anyone taking a "desperate grasp" at getting back some losses would probably lean toward a -255 favorite instead of a +255 dog...so I'm not having a hard time believing you!

I like the play. You really have to be on the right side of the true odds and will take it myself. GL

I like your take on the urgency of the Sabres. Urgency doesn't always translate into victories. I will file this away in my mental memory bank.

On the other hand, this is too much of a long-shot for me to take but good luck. I hope you hit it.

Well the Forum is Broken & no one can start new threads, however I have two games I am looking at for tomorrow.

Avalanche + X + 110
Ott/Tor Over 5 -110

back end of a home & home situation, avalanche lost the first game & will be hungry for victory here in the 2nd...last thing they want is memories of a sweep at the hand of the Red Wings. Avalanche also won their match earlier this year in Detroit 5-2.

Damn, tough break today boys. I went 3/4 (Damn Anaheim lost!) myself, stayed away from the Pitts game altogether though..

I think Avs might pull it off too. Do you know if Tanguay is going to play?

Forum broken? That makes two of us. I've fallen and can't get up.

I looked at a large card for tomorrow and very little looks good. But one thing that caught my eye immediately was Colorado. I was wavering between the ML and spread and I must admit the spread looks better.

I thought about the over as well on Toronto/Ottawa but I just have the feeling it might be played tighter due to the huge importance to the playoff picture.

What do you think regarding the over on dallas/Vancouver with Turco out? 4.5 is tempting...do you agree?

Vic you may think I am Joking But thank god for the Money Managament as look at my record last 5 days:

6-4 03/21
5-3 03/22
1-6 03/23
0-6 03/24
0-4 03/25 (2 Plays Pending ILL/Under)

I am betting too many games obviously...but how the fvck do you go 1-17 in 3 fvcking days....NCAAB raped me...

I cant wait till baseball....I may just sit tight for a while & build up some Cash...

I am starting too think fvck this multi sport thing...especially HOOPS, they always seem to get me...

Anyway in answer to ur question, yes, I failed to realize Turco was out...also gotta think that Van will break out on of these games, the vig is only -120 so looks pretty tempting for sure...I think the line is definately more of a line condusive of him being behind the pipes...

Anyway, I am very fragile right now & I may just hang up the gloves till April 4th...

Did you manage to get the tracker & the Baseball spreadsheet....

u can upload them from my site now.

I hear ya, I may not play as AS I dont have Pinny funded anyway & everywhere else will be too expensive, Dangerous Propostion given the factors you mentioned & the fact that Lalime is coming off a shutout...Belfour may also be up for this game...

My feeling was simply that Ottawa scored 4 goals in their last game finally breaking out for a while...I just felt that that might continue & that the senators may be good for at least 3...

No games really catch my eye tommorow eithier.. Except the obvious of course (FLYERS OVER RANGERS, BLUES OVER HAWKS, ISLES OVER 'CANES, LIGHTNING OVER WSH)...

Im thinking Sabres over Penguins after seeing today's game too. The only 'difficult' picks I like are Flames over Kings, Leafs over Sens, Avs over Detroit, Bruins over Canadiens..

I only want to play 2 or 3 games though. That is way to many
