San Fransico -4 (-110) at Bookmaker.

Fading the Detroit Lions again. With the Lions you have most likely the worst overall talent in the NFL, and IMO, the worst defense in the NFL. The only way you could field a defense with less talent if if you threw onto the field 11 dried up dog turds. By my count the Lions have one good or "plus" player on defense in Ernie Sims and maybe to average NFL players in Corey Redding and Dewayne White...maybe. The rest of defense is made up below average NFLers, either lacking in talent or washed up (see Tampa re-treads). Unreal. The Atlanta game was comical with the Falcons putting up Old School Nebraska rushing totals and then Aaron Rogers did whatever he wanted against the Lions.

The Offense: the worst offensive line in the NFL. Being a Michigan fan I love me some Jeff Backus but he is a bad LT. Cherilus is *finally* starting at RT. Raiola is okay but the guards are piss poor. And keep in mind Marinelli wants to "pound the rock" with this offensive line and rookie tailback Kevin Smith. Kevin Smith thus far has shown he might have some good NFL traits but has shown nothing special. Basically, the Lions run game consists IMO the worst offensive line in the NFL, and certainly a weak run blocking line, leading the way for a back-up caliber running back in his frist season in the NFL. Oh, let's not forget about Rudi Johnson who the shitty Bengals no longer wanted.

The QB: career backup and now starter (only for the Lions of course) Jon Kitna. Listening to local radio on Monday (pure comedy) the vast majority of Lions fans were blaming the Green Bay loss on Kitna. Kitna sucks, but if anyone deserved the majority of the blame it is the defense (or lackthere of). Kitna is just average at best - his accuracy can really be off. He's been a hothead in both of the games this year. I wouldn't be surprised if he starts of poorly next Sunday to see him get yanked for either backup that, sadly, give the Lions even less of a chance to win.

The only position of strength for the Detroit Lions is the wide receiver corp -- and you'd kinda hope so with the way Matt Millen, the worst GM in the NFL (see a trend?), drafted over the past 5 years. Calvin Johnson is surging and Roy Williams is being his, well, odd self lately. Besides dropping two catchable balls vs. Green Bay he said some really odd shit to the media after the loss.

Coaching & intangibles: Rod Marinelli and his son-in-law Joe Barry vs. Mike Nolan and Mike Martz. Give me a fucking break. Martz will want to embarrass Millen and the Lions; he didn't belong in Detroit because he's been a winner. San Fran coming off of a big win at Seattle last Sunday; they have to be brimming with confidence. The Lions are still the Lions and this could be the worst Lions team of this decade, which is absolutely fade-tastic.

Playing The 49ers with confidence.

Mike Martz will have the playbook wide open going against his old team. A SF team over 25-26 points is a strong play too.

You know, I almost played them against Green Bay. If I had bet NFL in week one, I may have bet them against Atlanta. Words are hard to find how awful, how lacking in talent this team is.

But you do have a point with regard to the Lions winning games they are not supposed to. To do this, even against a questionable team in San Fran, the 49ers would have to shit the bed this Sunday for the Lions to notch win #1. For the reason you stated, is the reason I was considering the + money on the Lions vs. Green Bay...then I came to my senses.

The Lions are so bad on defense. Awful MLB and SLB. Poor defensive backfied and a pedestrian defensive line.

This may not win, but I'm going with what I know about the Lions and what I've seen: Piss poor talent, horrible coaching philosphy (i.e. wanting to be a running team when the best chance you have is to be a pass oriented team...unreal) and a horrible history, possibly the worst franchise in all of professional sports.

ACE ACE, born and raised in Michigan and a football fanatic at young age - something told me to never get attached to the Detroit Lions. Sure I wanted them to win, but never any emotional attachment. I was lucky. I truly feel sorry for Detroit Lions fans.

He taked a guy Detroit didn't want, makes him his starer in San Fran, and he's already has a road win under his belt, a come from behind win no less. Martz is head an shoulders better than those dolts on the Detroit Lions staff.

Has anyone ever heard Marinelli speak? The guy dry toast. He seems overmatched. Perfect Detroit Lion headcoach.

Matt Millen still has not built a powerhouse over there?

Give him a few years

If I am a Lions fan in Detroit I would be organizing a lynching party for ole Matt Millen. He still has not figured out drafting WR's in the 1st round does nothing to help the defense get the ball so the wr's can do something. Feel sorry for Calvin Johnson and Roy Williams they have to endure such a pathetic team. Matt Millen has personally taken this franchise and pushed it back 10 years before someone with half a brain can fix it..

Adding Dallas -3 (120) at Green Bay. 3 units on this one.

Philly has one of the best offensive lines in the NFL. Add in a healthy McNabb and Brian Wesktbrook at the top of his game and you had the Cowboys looking like a piss poor defense. Green Bay's offensive line won't give them a fighting chance in this game. Dallas will make Green Bay one-dimentional and will force Rogers try and beat them. Don't think it'll happen. I like Green Bay's defense but Dallas is a complete offense.

So far:
6 unit play on San Fransisco.
3 units on Dallas -3 (-120)
1 unit on Washington -3 (120)
1 unit on Tampa Bay/Chicago under 35.5

I am not a Lions fan but do follow the hijinx. I would be pissed if I were a fan when they draft a RB in Kevin Smith, who shows some promise. Not good enough, they bring in Rudi Johnson and give him one carry. Now they are set to offer Cedric Benson a contract. WTF?

I can't think of a worse run fanchise in all of pro sports. Unreal. But I love it. Pure comedy every Sunday.
