AFC

CLINCHED

New England -- AFC East and a first-round bye
Cincinnati -- AFC North
Denver -- playoff berth
Kansas City -- playoff berth

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (at Miami)

New England clinches home-field advantage throughout AFC playoffs with:

1. NE win or tie OR

2. DEN loss or tie

DENVER BRONCOS (vs. San Diego)

Denver clinches AFC West division with:

1. DEN win or tie OR

2. KC loss or tie

Denver clinches a first-round bye with:

1. DEN win OR

2. DEN tie + CIN loss or tie OR

3. KC loss or tie + CIN loss

Denver clinches home-field advantage throughout AFC playoffs:

1. DEN win + NE loss

CINCINNATI BENGALS (vs. Baltimore)

Cincinnati clinches a first-round bye with:

1. CIN win + DEN loss or tie OR

2. CIN tie + DEN loss OR

3. DEN loss + KC win

Pittsburgh clinches a playoff spot with:

1. PIT win + NYJ loss

HOUSTON TEXANS (vs. Jacksonville)

Houston clinches AFC South division with:

1. HOU win or tie OR

2. IND loss or tie OR

HOU clinches strength of victory tiebreaker over IND or clinches strength of schedule tiebreaker over IND.

Note: HOU clinches strength of victory tiebreaker over IND if one of the following teams wins or ties: CIN, NE, NO, NYJ, SD.

HOU clinches strength of schedule tiebreaker over IND if KC wins or ties and BAL wins or ties as long as both teams don't tie.

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (vs. Tennessee)

Indianapolis clinches AFC South division with:

1. IND win + HOU loss + IND ties HOU in strength of victory tiebreaker and clinches strength of schedule tiebreaker over HOU.

Note: IND ties HOU in strength of victory tiebreaker and clinches strength of schedule tiebreaker over HOU if BOTH of the following occurs:

1. All of the following teams win: ATL, BAL, BUF, DEN, MIA.

2. OAK win or tie + PIT win or tie as long as both teams don't tie.

If Houston and Indianapolis end up tied in strength of victory and tied in strength of schedule, the teams would then go to the next tiebreaker, which is best combined ranking among AFC teams in points scored and points allowed in all games.

Minnesota clinches NFC North division with:

1. MIN win

__________________________________________________________________________

Teams that MUST WIN (and times games happen)

Pitt (-10) vs Browns 10am game
NY Jets (-3) vs Buff 10am game

Hou (no line) vs Jags (10am game)
Tenn (no line) vs Indy (10am)

The Washington Redskins are LOCKED into the #3 spot, cant get any better or worse positioning with a win or loss. Expect them to rest some starters and just play at 1/2 speed, and try and stay/get healthy for the playoffs

Buccs vs Carolina (-10.5) Panthers need a WIN to clinch homefield (but can also clinch with Cardinals loss, but both games scheduled for 1:25 start times)

Seattle vs Arizona (-7) Cardinals need a win AND a Panthers loss to clinch homefield

If the PATRIOTS(-11.5 vs Dolphins) lose in the morning game... The BRONCOS (-9 vs Chargers) can win home field and #1 seed

Dolphins currently hold the #6 pick in the draft, while the Chargers hold the #3 pick

If PACKERS WIN, they would play the SEAHAWKS in the wildcard round (in GB)... THEN the Arizona Cardinals the week after (in AZ)

IF PACKERS LOSE, they would play the REDSKINS (in Wash)... then in Carolina the week after

Same goes for the Vikings if they win or lose. LOSER gets the easier road in the playoffs....

Toughest win this week on the road if a team wants in the playoffs: Jets vs Buffalo

After a very physical game vs NE, Jets have to beat the BILLS and REX RYAN and they are in. Rex loves to play spoiler, and even better its against the team that decided "They could do better without him".

The jets have been barely winning vs bad teams on the road... the only standout win was agains the lackluster Colts.

Bills have the advantage here mentally, no pressure on them, just go out and get it done.

Teams that MUST WIN (and times games happen)

Pitt (-10) vs Browns 10am game
NY Jets (-3) vs Buff 10am game

-------------------------------------

This is incorrect. Jets do not have to win. They get in win a tie, a Pitt loss or tie. Pitt has to win and need Jets to lose.

And since the JETS game starts at the EXACT SAME TIME as the Steelers game... JETS are in a MUST WIN

Good info.....I like the Cowboys to steam roll the Skins....Big.

I like the Jaguars also....Think they keep it close against the Texans.

Good luck!

You said the Jets must win to get in. The Jets can lose and/or tie and still get in if Pitt loses/or ties. So this is not a must win game for the Jets. Do they want to win, sure. Will they try to win, most certainly. Do they have to win to get in? NO.

Technically No they don't have to win IF Pitt loses, but if Pitt wins then they MUST win to get in, so from the whole jet organization point of view THEY MUST WIN to get in!!!!! Dude is jus trying to give info that he took time to post and some of you know-it-all teachers pets wanna get technical!!! Give the guy a break and keep this asinine crap off therx

Teachers pets? WTF are you talking about? First of all, I know NFLTrends is helping. I appreciate that. Just clarifying a statement that was made that wasn't true. THE JETS DON'T HAVE TO WIN to make the playoffs. End of story.
