49ers haven't won a road game but I think just like in Cincinnati, SF will keep it close in this one with Philly off of Monday night. 49ers +7.5

Kojak - Once again I think you are right. A strange feeling tells me that SF has a great chance to win this game outright. They are playing with nothing to lose and Philly's run defense really isn't that good.

for everybody who wanted philly to fall last monday night, remember they played miami.
there has only been one team to cover after playing miami this year and it was new england, twice!(2-10-1 ats).
not saying frisco wins, but they are surely a team who won't lay down regardless.
this could be the week philly's ats run comes to an end.

GAME.

This is the week to catch the Birds off guard.
They had a phenominal road win last week on Monday night against a marquee opponent.

Now they're at home as the season wraps itself up against an NFC cellar dwellar.

PHilly is ripe for the picken's!!! I'm laying a huge play on the Whiners this week.

Is SF going to be motivated in the frozen tundra? I would love some feedback on this question.

This is a tough game to call this week for the Birds. They have to win to stay ahead of St. Louis for home field advantage. There will be guys out of this game. LJ Smith is highly doubtful and he has been getting a lot more balls thrown his way lately. Mike Bartrum is a capable replacement but he's not game tested. Troy Vincent is another doubtful player for Sunday and losing Troy would be big against the 49ers receivers. The Birds would lose some ability to bring blitzes because there would have to be help for whoever starts for Vincent (Lito Sheppard more than likely). Smith and Vincent both missed practice all week including today's. Jon Runyan has had the flu but he should be ok to go Sunday...they're feeding him a ton of fluids.

Now the Birds are PISSED OFF that only 2 Eagles were voted into the Pro Bowl. I know it doesn't sound like a big thing but I am sure they are going to be primed and pumped to show that they deserved a better shake. A stat to look at is the Niners allowing their opponents to convert on 3rd down 40.9 percent of the time! In contrast the Birds allow only 34.3 percent conversions on 3rd down. A substantial difference in that stat.

Truthfully the fan base here for the most part isn't too worried about this game. 55 percent of Eagles fans polled say they expect a business like approach on Sunday to SF. If that is the case the Eagles will win this game. I'm just worried about the injuries and what that will do to the team's scheme against SF. I'm not going to force myself to play this one but I think the Birds will win (not going too far out on a limb).

Good luck

The Eagles are a motivated, tough team with a chip on their shoulder. I think they want to be the number one seed in the NFC. I don't think that there will be a letdown. Especially playing in Philly I am sure the fans will make it hard for them to forget that they got to win the game.

I say Eagles will cover the spread.

Everyone, remember that Niners have 14 players who will be unrestricted free agents, so they are playing for leverage and to be noticed.

Also, Barlow fumbled twice last week and needs two good games to finish the season strong to secure the starting job from Hearst next year. Barlow is one of the 14 unrestricted free agents.

Garcia is also playing to end any QB controversy. He has looked very fresh and throwing the ball with pinpoint accuracy since he came back from injury.

Finally, if Phily has this lead late in the game, they may play conservative since they will have home field locked up. This may allow for a backdoor cover.

Troy Vincent also out for Phily. With Owens and Streets both free agents after the season, I think they will try and exploit that secondary.

I'm taking 49ers +7... just wanted to point out some angles for the rest of you consider.

I'd take the total if I can find it 43 or less, but it's at 44.5 and 44 at both my books, so just a lean to the over for me.
