Monday Night Football
Well, some of you may be screaming "homer pick" when you read this, but I assure you that it is not.
Tonight's matchup results in a crash-course in public perception. Joe Public and the media love to forecast winners, and in this case they are ranking the Minnesota Vikings as one of the premier teams in the entire NFC. Meanwhile, with all the attention in Green Bay being on the departure of Brett Favre and the historical struggles of any QBs unfortunate enough to follow a legend, the public perception of Green Bay's value is low.
With the exception of a switch at QB, Green Bay is still the same team that appeared in the NFC title game last season and barely missed the Super Bowl. And although he will certainly have his ups and downs, the football world will soon discover that Aaron Rodgers is ideally suited to run the Green Bay offense.
Minnesota's run defense will probably stiffle Green Bay's ground game, but their bottom of the barrell pass defense will not contain this ultra talented group of receivers. Meanwhile, on the other side of the ball, Peterson will get his yards (Green Bay looked leaky against the run in the preseason without a healthy Pickett clogging the middle), but without any type of passing threat, it won't be enough production to win this contest.
The weather sets up perfectly too - we are expecting a few rain showers and some frost is possible with a Low of 44 degrees and 5~10 mph W/NW wind. Just wet and cold enough to bother a dome team and yet not enough wind to raise havoc with the passig game.
