Cowboys defensive end Damontre Moore has been suspended two games for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse, the league announced Friday.
Moore was arrested in December on charges of driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license. Employed by the Seahawks at the time, Moore was signed as a free agent by the Cowboys in March.
Dallas has seen a flock of players in the front-seven serve punishments for off-the-field issues. Since 2015, linebacker Rolando McClain and defensive ends David Irving, Randy Gregory, Demarcus Lawrence and Greg Hardy have all faced bans.
The Cowboys have been impressed with Moore's play and might choose to weather out his suspension. They need all the help they can get up front, but Moore won't offer much assistance out of the gate.

New offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian likes to use screens and short passes to his running backs, which is good for Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman as pass catchers. Freeman ranked fifth in catches and was tied for 12th in touches among runners last season, averaging 17.6 touches per game and 6.1 more than teammate Tevin Coleman (11.5). Freeman will continue to lead the backfield attack, but Coleman will see his share of touches and brings No. 2/3 back potential.
