NFL teams and rookie quarterbacks

Why do teams every year throw out rookie (and other inexperienced) qb's to the wolves? Bears, Baltimore, 49ers, Bills- they give their team and fans little hope of winning and completely throwing away a season because of this plan. Buffalo may save their season. Watching the Bears today, I realize Orton is not much better than Craig Krenzel at this stage of his career. This NFL North is theirs for the taking, Blake should be in there.

He might be before long. Orton is too inconsistent(rookie trademark), and you're right, in the NFC North it's wide open. Blake at least won't be a deer in headlights like Orton is. It's not fair to that outstanding D. Those guys deserve the chance to win, and Blake probably gives them the best chance.

man im telling ya u dont want to see that.....blake is a washed up never was shoulda been....he is for extreme emergencys only......if the rookie has a pulse leave him in there over blake.....watch blake on the sideline, i bet he fumbles the clipboard 3 or 4 times a game...

now you wants see a rookie who needs to be benched? just ck out aaron brooks......man is that guy a bum....he'll never make 8 yrs in this league i tell ya!!!

Isn't this Losman's 2nd year? He tore his ACL or something his rookie year, so he's had plenty of time to study the playbook.

and to think 25 years ago they would say it took 5 years to bring an NFL QB along...never seeing a rookie start, and it would have been much easier back in the day with the game speed nowhere near what it is today.

5 years! now its 5 games... and almost every single time its nothing but one interception after another as was the case yesterday in San Francisco.
