I dont know about sunday ticket but i did hear this morning that the ftc came down on DirectTv for deceptive buisness practices with new subscribers and they will no longer be able to raise rates and hold someone to a contract.
Interesting. And I'm not surprised.
They advertise service for $20/month in those retarded Rob Lowe commercials, but there is no possible way to have a bill that low. HDTV costs $10/month. DVR service another $10, etc. Even with a basic package with no premium channels, there's just no way to get it under $100/month.
And yes, they lose their asses on the Sunday Ticket deal alone. The NFL charges them more for the rights to Sunday Ticket than the total amount their subscribers pay them for the Sunday Ticket package. They make the difference back by constantly jacking up the rates on the channel packages.
Although with AT&T now owning DTV, I don't understand why Sunday Ticket is still exclusive to DTV. You'd think AT&T would want to make it available to all their customers.
