Is there any value in Nfl props? I have seen some that would take a freak accident for it to lose. Granted the payout for those lines are terrible, but if you had enough money riding could you make a decent buck?

Thanks

There are bucks to be made everywhere.........including props.

Be selective and do your homework though, as most of these have a high vigorish attached to them.

Does anyone out there currently make any money with props? I am thinking of sending down a few dimes to try it out.

FishHead: I have read most of your posts about video poker but can't seem to find any with the payout tables that you need to gain the advantage (dueces wild). Living in canada probably doesn't grant me the greatest selection though!

Fishhead Makes A Good Point That There Is Money To Be Made With All Different Wager Types. Youve Got To Have A Good Feel For Something And There Has To Be Value. Not To Say That You Have To Take The Underdog Or "plus Money" On Everything But Dont Be A Sucker. The Hopkins Fight On Saturday Was A Good Example. You Had To Lay Some Wood With Hopkins But There Was Value There. Ive Done Ok On Props But Havent Made Nearly As Much As On My Straight Bets Over The Decades.

Props are by FAR one of the easiest ways to make money, as long as it is not in the "tried and tested one" or "coin-flip" category.

Who will score first? This falls into the tried and tested category. Give an accurate spread and no special knowledge, this prop is tough to beat. But if you know that one team always kicks, while the other receives, this prop is beatable. Or, if the prop is left open until after you know which team is receiving, you can have 10%+ EV.

Margin of victory props... these are also "tried and tested" - and never have value.
Player statistic props are often beatable using a straight poisson distribution. If you gamble and don't know what that is, learn! 80% of all props can be analyzed using that, and fully 1/4 of Olympic's opening props have value - they typically open at -115 and let the market bangit into shape.

Realize, a football line reflects 20 different opinions. It might not be perfect, but it will usually be pretty close. A unique prop offering though, is one opinion. That is why there is often so much value.

Gambleman you can learn the straight poisson distribution from Wong, "Sharp Sports Betting" though I would wait for a few more weeks worth of data.
