Can a team win by more than 6 ? I say no. A friend says yes. Anyone know the Answer? I think 2,3 or 6 points only.

the answer is yes, you kick fg on opening drive to go up 3 and then return a pick 6 or fumble for a td to win by 9

My friend says the game ends without adding the points unless the fumble or int happens in end zone. I can't find official rules only jib jab on Reddit

the game doesnt end without adding the points, the score would count, they would however not kick an xp

seems like kidman provided the answer

I always thought a fumble recovered in the end zone would have to count, so you can win by 9

Jake Plummer sighting!
That's the game I saw, won by 13 in OT. Probably one of my luckiest covers.

By the way, the reason the play is allowed to continue instead of the game being called over at the time of the fumble recovery or interception is because if the dummy who picks it up or picks it off tries to run it back, instead of just kneeling down, fumbles the ball, the original fumbling/intercepting team can pick it up and run it back for a TD. It's a live ball until he's down.

Below is a copy from NFL rules. The play is allowed to continue but the points won't count unless the fumble or INT happens in the end zone.

http://operations.nfl.com/the-rules/2016-nfl-rulebook/#rule-16.-overtime-procedures

Note 1: If the second team loses possession by an interception or fumble, the down will be permitted to run to its conclusion, but if the second team’s possession has legally ended with the fumble recovery or interception, any subsequent action will not affect the outcome of the game. (If the change of possession occurs in the second team’s end zone, the score counts.)

Marinovich 48-35 game?
That was a forward pass and the runback should not have counted. It was also a terrible beat that I would not have seen without an illegal cable box descrambler :)
All the money on that game was on the DOG. BW took +8 in the AM. The game closed at 5. It was a dead middle for so many people. Hundreds of thousands changed hands on that TD. 21 other players just stood there when the little monkey scooped up the ball and ran 100 yards.
