It's been awful this year, but the playoffs have been better, not that that's saying much.

I think officiating in major sports has always been bad. Nothing's changed other than more camera angles and better technology to truly see how bad the calls are.

all the cameras, angles, instant replays, its alot easier to spot the mistakes on TV than in real life

Not true, freedom of movement, illegal contact, jumping into the neutral zone causing offensive linemen to jump and point, a pinky touching the helmet is now a blow to the head, illegal celebrations

are all changes that help diminish the game(s)

if they stuck with the original concept of a foul, no advantage gained or lost, no whistle, they'd be much better at their jobs

instead, they're a third team on the field and all their judgement calls are horrifically inconsistent

my next poll, who voted that they're doing a great job?

1) JC, because he's defending them
2) GTC08IQ, because his IQ is 08
3) Vlad, because most refs are white
4) Wilbur, because he didn't understand the question
5) BAS, being a Jets fan made him punch drunk

You're talking about rule changes, not officiating

Officiating has always and will always be bad regardless of the rules

This times a million
Watching a football game at the field-level, it is NOT easy to spot things at real speed. It's always a bit funny to me when announcers point out a missed offensive holding call after one out of the ten guys in the production booth spotted it on their third internal slow-mo replay, and pointed it out to them. It's not like there are seven back judges behind the line, watching each individual matchup

Watch the college game last night, you barely notice the officials (they did have the one issue with the clock in 1h).... Nfl games are a parade of challenges, reviews, officials huddles, and convoluted explanations of what just happened.

watching a offensive linemen tackle the defender two feet in front of the ball carrier is nearly impossible to see.

almost as hard as seeing the ball carrier get tackled by the face mask

but when that finger brushes against the QB's helmet, they never miss that blow to the head, although they often miss a real blow to the head

I'm sorry, there's no defense, they even fuck up replays AND give different interpretations as to why the exact same play yields a different result

even ex-players are laughing at them, how many times have you heard "does anyone know what's a catch anymore"?

Willie, were you voted "most likely to use hyperbole" by your high school classmates?
Or perhaps "most likely to post a poll no one cares about on a gambling forum?"
