NFL investigating Patriots for deflating footballs, per report

e New England Patriots came away with a 45-7 win against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, but the NFL will investigate the footballs used in that AFC Championship victory. The NFL will investigate whether the Patriots deflated footballs used in the game, according to Bob Kravitz of WTHR.com.According to Kravitz a violation for deflated footballs would not impact the outcome of the AFC Championship, but the Patriots could lose draft picks. Kravitz reported officials took a ball out of play during the game and weighed it. According to NFL rules, home teams are required to provide 36 balls for outdoor games and make the balls available for testing with a pressure gauge prior to the game.

The USC Trojans were fined and a manager was fired for deflating balls against Oregon in 2012. Deflating footballs wouldn't have made much different in the game on Sunday as the Patriots obliterated the Colts and the result had nothing to do with a couple of missing PSI in the balls.

Not like any of this is surprising. I've had over a decade of this stuff. Colts have strong passing game and nothing else. Patriots have balanced game. It's like te front office says " well we have Peyton or luck job over"

motive, if you're reading about an unsubstantiated allegation included within an obvious hit piece written by an obviously biased reporter, should you think about it just a tad?

does it make sense? what is their motive? what else did the author provide?

Deflating footballs would theoretically have made it easier for Brady, who completed 23 of 35 passes for 226 yards and three touchdowns, to throw and for his receivers to catch in the bad weather of Sunday’s game in Foxboro. But it also should have benefited Colts' quarterback Andrew Luck, who had a miserable game, completing 12 of 33 passes for a mere 126 yards.

Of course NE deflated the balls - this is what they do - but I don't see how it could make any difference unless the Colts were using a different ball - would be great to hear that Brady got one ball and Luck got another ball with a marker on it
