Heading in to this NFL betting lines season, there was little doubt among prognosticators that the New England Patriots and New York Jets would be among the class of the AFC out of the East division. However, two weeks in to the regular season the Patriots and Jets are joined by the Buffalo Bills, which managed to pull off one of the most improbable comebacks in NFL history to move in to a three-way tie for first in the division at 2-0. The Bills will face a tough task this week as they host New England, while the remainder of the division travels to play price per head games that they should win.

Trailing the Oakland Raiders 21-3 at the half, Buffalo rallied with five touchdowns on five second-half drives to complete the improbable comeback in a 38-35 win. The Bills have taken advantage of a pair of AFC West opponents to start strong, but they will face a much tougher test this week trying to slow down New England. The Patriots have averaged 463 passing yards and 36.5 points through two wins to open the year, and will look to take the first of consecutive per head road games before making the trip to the west coast to face the Raiders in week four.

The Dolphins haven’t played bad through two games, but rather they simply haven’t been good enough to take down two quality opponents in the Patriots and Houston Texans. Miami ranks in the top-10 in both passing and rushing yards, and will look to finally get in the win column when they make the trip to Cleveland this week in the first of three straight road games they will play. The Browns started slow with a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, but looked much better at Indianapolis in a 27-19 win over the Colts. We won’t put too much stock into a win over Indianapolis without Peyton Manning, which is why Miami should be able to get the price per head sports job done this week.

New York Jets (-3) @ Oakland Raiders

After surviving a scare from the Dallas Cowboys in week one, the Jets left nothing to chance in week two with a route of the Jacksonville Jaguars. New York now embarks on a three-game road trip that includes stops at both Baltimore and New England over the next couple of weeks, meaning there will be a heightened cost per head sense of urgency in this game. The Raiders suffered a devastating blow at Buffalo and it could be a key factor in determining how their season plays out. Oakland does have some weapons, but not enough to keep up with the Jets as they look to maintain pace with the Patriots at the top of the division.

That Jet line looks funny. Jets traveling west for a late game is almost as bad as a west coast team traveling east for an early game. I'd be cautious jumping all over the Jets for an "easy" bet.
