Is that a joke? The chain?

No, not the chain, different Patsy's, this one is individually owned by, well, never mind who owns it. (if you know what I mean)

yeah, but security will be beyond air tight, and expect clastrophobic crowding.

Don't get your hopes up. Seems like a lot of people are ready for "change," regardless of what that means.

Many folks even say that the tradgedy of 9/11 was a political move by our President. Sad to say but true nonetheless.

If you go to ground zero, or even if you don't, say a prayer and add VVV to your amen.

All of them except for 1 and 6 would be fine, dont stay off manhattan. For your first try, dont put 11 or 12 on there either.

The best steak in NYC is in Brooklyn at Peter Lugers and that's pretty much fact.

I guess it will have to be between Lugers and Woolfgangs for steak dinner.

which has a better atmosphere?

are they both roughly the same price?

SS - it depends what you want for 'atmosphere':

Luger's is old-school, gruff Brooklyn service. 60 year old surly waiters is part of the charm. It's a historic place, probably the most famous steakhouse in the country. It's also hard to get in, without booking long in advance so it is a bit of a status to go to the original Luger's.

Wolfgang's is more upscale manhattan feel, younger waiters, courteous service. But it's pretty loud.

Steaks are nearly identical, prices about the same as well.

Wolfgang's has a larger menu, more side dishes, and takes credit cards (Luger's does not). I've been to both several times, but usually prefer Wolfgang's. Once you've been to Luger's for the gruff experience that's enough - I prefer a more classy feel. Get the Bacon appetizer at either!!

SS, anywhere in Manhattan below about 102nd St (Central Park area) is a great spot and everywhere else in Manhattan is easily accessible.

Don't be shy about using cabs out the wazoo....You can boogie around from place to place for under $10 in most cases.

Definitely want to get down into Little Italy/Chinatown/Greenwich Village....All three within a $5 cab ride of each other.

That's where the streets are tight and you get the really intense feel of 19th century NYC.

BTW, after your visit, suggest reading Caleb Carr's THE ALIENIST for a pretty cool late 19th century murder mystery set in lower Manhattan.

Seriously, try and learn the subway system and you will save soooo much money it is insane asopposed to the cabs. First time I went, I was with a buddy who knew how to get around on the subway and the next time, I relied on cabs..... Cost me $25 to get from penn station to ground zero in a cab and $2 to get back on the subway.
