Over the last 3 NBA Seasons on New Year's Eve (small sample size), here are the ATS Results for the Away Teams:
2018 Away Teams ATS: 7-1 (88%)
2017 Away Teams ATS: 5-1 (83%)
2016 Away Teams ATS: 4-2 (67%)
Overall Away Teams ATS L/3 Seasons: 16-4 (80%)
Does this tell us anything and if so, what? Could this just perhaps be random? Could this mean the Home Teams have other things (New Year's Eve Parties, Family plans, etc..) on their mind? I tend to side with the random theory based on the small sample size but I do believe this trend over the L/3 season is worth mentioning and I'd like to know what everyone thinks. In any event......I'm going to buck the trend with my ATS pick tonight:
New Year's Eve Picks
Risked 1.07 units to win 1 Phoenix Suns +11 -107 vs Golden State Warriors ----> Bucking the Trend
Risked 1.05 units to win 1 UNDER 228.5 -105 vs New Orleans Pelicans
2018 Away Teams ATS: 7-1 (88%)
2017 Away Teams ATS: 5-1 (83%)
2016 Away Teams ATS: 4-2 (67%)
Overall Away Teams ATS L/3 Seasons: 16-4 (80%)
