I know the majority of people on this board or in this country don't smoke but I would like to vent on how much bullshit these new tobacco taxes are. I have been smoking since I was 14 years old. Do I wish I never started smoking? Of course!!! But regardless 25% of the people in the United States use some form of tobacco whether it is cigarettes, dip or cigars. When ever these proposed taxes come up to raise the price of smokes $2.00 and $3.00 a pack it is an attack on the minority of Americans. The other 75% of people that don't smoke won't even blink twice when it comes to raising tobacco taxes but it doesn't affect them. If this country hates tobacco so much then why not make it illegal so nobody can profit off of it. Oh yeah that's right if tobacco never existed in this country it would be no better economically than Bangladesh.

$7.00 a pack for smokes is straight rape!!!!! !~~~!

I bought a pack of "Poker" brand cigarettes from my local smoke shop for $3.00 to try and find a good generic brand. Only problem is these generic brands are made in Columbia and India so who knows what poisons I am in inhaling. The average length of life of in those countries is probably 50 years so they probably don't care if you get lung cancer or emphesyma when you are 20 years old.

I love Basics but they're about as expensive as the big brands nowadays.

Thanks Gary.. Hope all is well with you too, do you smoke?

I smoked in high school and also in the military. I remember buying a carton of Marlboro's for about $7 in 84-85. I quit smoking about 17 years ago. I will still smoke a cigar on occassions but that's about it...

About 17 years? You must not have fought them for as long as I did. I remember the date I quit and it was 10 years ago.

Yeah, I only smoked for about 5-6 years. I'm glad I quit though, nasty habit.

The prices are outrageous these days and it's a nasty habit no smoker would wish on anyone. But to avoid paying high prices there are places online to order from that are much less expensive.

Dealing with a bad habit sucks, getting raped in the wallet in the meantime is even worse.

Me too Tex, and I dont even miss them this time.

The smell is horrible. When my father and father-in-law come over to visit they have to go outside and smoke. That smell though is difficult to get rid of.
