3 Unit Plays:
Hawks +4
The Hawks have started out the season great and will be taking their 5-0 record into Chicago tonight. The Bulls are 3-1 at the United Center and they have been competing well also. The main factor here is that while both teams average 95-96 ppg, the Hawks only give up 86 ppg compared to the Bulls 96 ppg. The Hawks play much better defense at this point. Both teams clearly have a solid set of guards, and equivelant big men. Atlanta is currently 4-0-1 ATS (depending on what line you count for their recent outing against OKC). An issue for Atlanta is that they have not started games at a very high level; they only average 43 points at the half in their 3 road games. But tonight is a huge match-up for Atlanta because they have the chance to prove that they are the real deal. I expect this one to be close all the way, and come down to the last 20 seconds of the game. I have the Hawks winning by 4, so I'll take the points.
GSW -6
Minnesota has put themselves in an early hole with their 1-5 record, and Golden State can consider themselves in the same position. Both teams have been allowing triple digit points this season. I expect tonight's game to be fast-paced Golden State basketball. Minnesota will attempt to keep up, but the majority of their offense comes from Jefferson down low. Their will be plenty of transition offense tonight, with both teams getting open looks from the three point line. The issue is that Minnesota is not only on the road, but they have one consistent 3-point shooter and that is Mike Miller. Golden State has OK match-ups down low as well. But the key is that once Minnesota gets down 12 in the first half, they will have to start shooting deep and continuing to run with GS, and they will be tired. Golden State wins by double digits tonight.
Knicks +5
As we all know, the Spurs have already dug themselves a hole, and they have not looked good yet this year. We also all know that Ginoblie and Parker are out with injuries. This does not cripple the Spurs, as they still have some good players. But these players are not going to be ready for twice the playing-time. The PG position is where the Knicks have a huge advantage, and the Knicks should be fine down low with Randolph and Curry. I expect this game to be similar to the Heat/Spurs game. The Knicks will cover.
Pistons/Kings o196
Detroit's games this season are 5-1 with going over the total. Sacramento's games are 4-3 going over the total, but they have also allowed 104 ppg. The Kings defense clearly needs help, and their offense has been solid lately as well. The Kings are 3-0 at home this season, and it is going to take offense for them to win tonight. Iverson shouldn't have a problem scoring 30+ against the Kings defense. Sit back and watch this one go over the total.
Side Play on NCAAF: I also put 1 unit on Ball State -20 tonight. Ball State's offense averages 20 more ppg than Miami (OH). Ball State can't be happy about being 9-0 and only ranked 14th. I'm sure that Ball State's coaching staff is telling the players that they not only need to win, but they need to win big against these weak teams. A 10-point win tonight would not push them into the top 10, I think Ball State wins 41-13.
I also just hit my 3 unit Northeastern -7 bet on College Hoops, so now I'm hoping to have a 6-0 night! Good Luck everyone...
