This is the forum everyone sees, so I think directing traffic and improving participation in forum contests is going to a greater challenge. I think one of the best things about theRX is all the contests, so it's concerning to me that they might start to fall off.

PS: I'm not trying to be a muckraker, just voicing my concerns.

Is this something originating from higher levels? Have there been complaints to management? If so, I don't think anyone should really be complaining about stuff that increases camaraderie and traffic. I don't think any of the contests we have here actually hurts the offshore industry.

I hope I'm wrong, I hope all the contests continue to grow

Yeah on second thought you guys are right. We'll be lucky to get 1/2 the entrants we have the last couple years in the survivor contest.

It's nice having them in one place, but sucks they are not at least referenced here.

Could we put a sticky here with a list of contests, that has links to the corresponding thread in that subforum? Then if someone starts a contest they can request that you edit the master list?

Thanks for the reply BAS, i think that most if not all contests will take a hit in participation but i could be wrong. It is convenient having all in one place but its pretty buried & i liked the mix of items in Offshore. I always checked out multiple additional topics when going in for the contests.

I agree with others, think this will take away a lot of traffic and sign up for contests. the offshore is kind of a free for all with a number of random topics/dumb posts, so I don't really feel the contest sign ups/promotions hurt anything.

I think a good middle ground would be to allow people to post in the offshore while trying to get people to join the contest and once the contest is filled and starts, move it down to the contest sub forum for all further posts/weekly updates

case in point, right now offshore has 105 people viewing and the new contest forum has 3.

So let's try this ...

You can start a Thread in Offshore, but link them to the Thread in the Community Contests forum.
Just post Your Contest url thread.
You can explain what it is, how much it is to enter, etc.

Do not use The RX in your title.

Example would be, Kidman232's Survivor Fantasy Football Contest

also I will be posting the RX Financial transactions between posters Rule in each thread.
This is coming from the Higher ups, and most be done.

bummer....agree with Willie and others on this one...the contests were some of the only glue we had left! good way to build offshore comaraderie IMO
