I've heard of him, just can't put the name with an act/face. Yeah, tickets are free, so I will go and check him out.

Making a bit of a comeback. Hope all is well down in FL.

David Brenner is a comedian who spent most his life's earnings to get his son back in a viscious custody battle. He is currently dating Tai Babilonia.

He was huge in the 70's and early 80's. He used to play poker at the Desert Inn.

Brenner would have ended up with Seinfeld type money if he came along a decade later. He used to be a very frequent guest on Howard Stern. Made numerous appearances on Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Guest hosted several times. He could have been Jay Leno. He grew up in Philadelphia. Time has sort of passed him by. I
thought he was great when he used to do his Tonight Show appearances. As talented as they come.

Gentlemen..

Being a New Yorker I have been quite familiar with David Brenner..In the late 70s he was always at Rick Neumans joint.."Catch A Rising Star"..He was very funny..He..David Steinberg..Leno..Robert Klein..were before Seinfeld and very funny guys..David owned a pool hall on the upper east side for years and was very cordial to his customers..His child custody battle for his son was well documented..He was Philly guy who loved the big apple..I saw him many times at The Improv..and he is a friar..

Any show you can see with him is worthwhile..he was the Bill Maher of his day..Funny with politics, at times controversial..but always funny..If I remember correctly, a real hoops fan..The memories..

He had been playing at the Westin Casuarina, which is the hotel that took the Maxim's place, before this move.

Wow, 78. Time sure goes by fast. One of the good guys of comedy. Earlier post mentioned how he was similiar to Seinfeld. After watching this interview by Johnny Carson I can very much see the similarity...

Seinfield was very similar to Brenner in the way they did their standup. Both were very clean (by today's standards) comedians. And instead of one liners, they both liked to tell stories. Brenner was one of the first to do it, along with Richard Pryor. But he was much dirtier and believable than Brenner. Brenner's schtick was he had a very dry sense of humor. Brenner was always hit and miss with me. Sometimes he could be very dull. Other times very very funny. Especially when he went on Carson. He was a much better off the cuff guy than standup. Which made him great for interviews and talk shows.

[h=1]RIP David Brenner[/h] It's with heavy hearts that we have to announce another loss to the Howard Stern Show and the world - the great comedian and frequent guest David Brenner has died.
"Great guy who was always encouraging and in my corner, I'm so sad" - Howard Stern
