New Rx Policy for Pay Services intending to promote their sites in the Sports Forums.

Search
For a long period of time, there has been debate about how to accommodate pay services who want to promote themselves in the sports forums at The Prescription. There are always concerns by many posters about allowing this to happen. Until now, the policy has been that a pay service may post their URL’s once per day with a play or write-up. In the time that we have allowed this to be the norm, there has still been concern over allowing services into the sports forums at all. The Rx is here to assist the posters first and then be willing to oblige other requests as well by services, books, other sites, etc…

Effective, March 20, 2003, The Prescription.com will not allow Pay Services to post in the sports forums. The pay services will have free liberty to post any plays & their URL’s in 3 forums here at The Rx. Pay Services may post plays in the Tout Forum, Site Promotions, or The Rubber Room. Pay services will be protected from flaming/bashing in the Tout forum. We will not allow others to talk negatively to or about the Pay Services in the Tout forum.

Pay services that use their site as their user name will no longer be allowed to post in the sports forums. It is not very conducive to ask that no URL be posted, but allow the user to make his screen name a match of his website. If you are known to operate a service for others and your screen name is not a match of your site or service, feel free to continue to post plays as you wish, but you will not be allowed to post URL’s with your plays. Dogball & Jake Thompson would be examples of this.

Emails will not be allowed posted by members who show a desire to sell info or plays. If you are a service, then your emails will not be allowed in the sports forums.

Any violations of the above set policy will lead to warnings, and then suspension.

Please post any questions/comments here & we will reply ASAP.

Thanks

hmmm. I think what might have been better (gee, wonder why bb wasn't asked for his input?) would be to take the services on a case-by-case basis. if someone is taking advantage, by only posting plays and plugging their site/service, or is obviously an amateur (playing many fav's is usually a give-away), I feel that getting them to post elsewhere is fine. But what happens if someone is legitimately contributing to forum (or the hockey zone)? I think its only fair that they be allowed to stay, especially if they are competent or knowledgeable. In fact, I see no difference between sports books (which advertise on prescription) being able to post bonus’s, etc., posting in forums, while making absolutely no other contribution. Should we ban them from the forums too? If I were to start charging for the hockey zone, would bb be banned also? It appears so, if I read this correctly.

Thanks Bobby.

The intent here is to make the Rx more friendly to the majority. There will be case by case basis & i am dealing with a few right now.

Bobby Bryde,

Thank you. I listen to The Shrink. If he did not consult you, then you need to discuss with him. The rules will be upheld as stated in the hockey forum as well. There is no need to make this harder than needed. The intent is simple. We do not want to see Pay Services posting URL's in the sports forums. Nor will we allow names as such in the sports forums.
