The part of the quarter i am talking about though is all the way on the north end, Esplande is the north boundry, and Dauphine is on the west end, so i think you basically can forget the tourists living over there, i could be wrong though.

I know exactly where you are referring to. New Orleans is so compact though, that I wouldnt want to be even that close to all the tourists.

The Garden district was really something to write home about.

Seems to be Millionair's row down there though, but maybe there are good deals to be had in the garden district.

I have heard of there being mind blowing slums in and around New Orleans, where are these in relation to the quarter/Canal St?

Ive been to Biloxi a half dozen times,,,and Mardi Gras,,, 8 times!!!UGHUGHUGH,,,,, that place is the BEST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!

my total favorite!!!!!

I have Peed on Every corner!!!!!
and Ive probably exposed myself on every corner too,,, hahahah
that place is the best the best the best!!!

Maybe...
I was inebriated and/stoned for most of my visit. So perhaps you are correct. The area which struck my fancy the most was that around Tulane by that huge natural park with all the moss hanging from the trees..

the one on top of the world trade center- it not a chill place to go .. but wonderful view

I was mostly in larry flynt's place one night, but the next night i was all over bourbon street. Ate at The Seaport and Oceana. Had lunch at the House of Blues on Decatur too, Fabulous all over!
